Watching My Stories

We are back with lots of TV updates! But first, Dhani talks about seeing Fast & Furious presents Hobbs & Shaw.   Then, moving on to TV, Dhani starts by talking about the latest season of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (ABC).  Then she talks about The Handmaid's Tale (HULU) and how it is very close to being her favorite show of all time.  Next John joins the discussion in talking about the 3rd season of GLOW (Netflix).   Wrapping things up, Dhani quickly touches on a few shows that have started that she is interested in recommending or finishing.  These are Four Weddings and a Funeral (HULU), BH90210 (Fox), David Makes Man (OWN), and Why Women Kill (CBS AllAccess).   Finally in the Actors' Corner, we discuss the work of Dwayne Johnson.  

We are continuing a run by being back a week later!  Go us!   This week Dhani talks about watching Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.  She has mixed views on this movie.   Then she watched the new comedy special by Whitney Cummings called Can I Touch It?  This was very funny and if you like Whitney, then don't miss this special.   Moving to TV, Dhani finished the final season of Orange Is The New Black.  She is sad that it is over, but feels that they finished it up correctly and sentimentally.  Next, she talks about the series finale of iZombie and the enjoyment she received from that show for 5 seasons. Finally, Dhani shares her love for Jane The Virgin and her sadness that it is over.  She explains the pure joy received from watching this show and that she will forever recommend people to go back and watch this show because there will never be another one like it.   Lastly, in the Actors' Corner we discuss the films of Brad Pitt.

This week Dhani has a lot to talk about... We are finally back to our old format... with Dhani talking about all of the things she has watched.  However, this week, she has to make up for the last 4 weeks of not producing a podcast, so she has a lot to cover! First, she talks about On The Basis of Sex and the pure awesomeness of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Next, Dhani talks about the Netflix movies Someone Great and Unicorn Store.  While they were both about the process of growing up and change, she preferred the story of Someone Great more.  However both are enjoyable.  Moving on to a documentary of YouTubePremium called Boy Band Con: The Lou Pearlman Story.  Since Dhani is a superfan of *NSync, she really appreciated the insight gained from this behind the scenes doc.  And finally, both John and Dhani watched the Netflix documentary Knock Down the House.  This focuses on 4 women running for Congress in 2018 and following their grass roots campaigns.  Moving on to TV, Dhani wanted to visit some shows that have ended that she highly recommends.  These are Cr

*******************SPOILERS********************** This week John and Dhani talk about Avengers: Endgame.  They speak about the movie in great detail, spoiling the plot and all aspects of the film.  Only listen to this podcast if you have seen the movie, otherwise, wait until you have seen the movie and come back and listen.   If you have seen the movie, and want to hear our opinions, please listen.  It is the only thing we discuss this week.   At the end of the discussion, we break down the MCU and list the movies we love, like, hate, secretly love, and haven't seen.   We will be back next week with lots of TV and other movies to discuss.

After an unexpected week off, we have LOTS to cover for these two weeks.  We try not to spend too much time on most of these things, but they still needed to be talked about.   First off, Dhani saw Us and gives it 5 stars!  She explains as much as she can without spoiling the plot.   Next, she talks about the Netflix movie The Highwaymen and how surprised she was that she really enjoyed it and was enthralled in the story.  Another Netflix film that both Dhani and John watched is The Dirt.  The movie about Motley Crue.  Neither really enjoyed it and thought there should have been more to the heart and soul of the movie.   Moving to TV, Dhani talks about the latest episodes released of Arrested Development.  She has always liked the show and suggests people go back and watch from the beginning.  The next series Dhani discusses is Catastrophe and it's 4th and final season on Amazon Prime.  She has loved every episode of this show and advises that most people will enjoy it if they haven't watched it already.   Ne

We first find Dhani and John admitting they are very tired as they record this week's episode... but we march on as there is a lot to talk about this week.   First, Dhani talks about Captain Marvel.  She tries not to give anything away but does discuss some themes that she enjoyed in the film.   The next movie Dhani saw is The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.  She was very pleasantly surprised that this sequel was as clever and interesting as the first movie.   The next movie Dhani saw was Holmes & Watson.  Even though this was so openly panned, she still wanted to give it a try... and while it was fun to watch the two stars, the overall story wasn't good.   And the last movie discussed is Mary Poppins Returns.  Just a reminder to everyone that it is out on Digital now and what a wonderful movie it is.   Moving on to TV, Dhani talks about the Hulu show Shrill.  She really feel in love with the main character and advises people to watch the show without really being able to describe it.   Next, both Dhani an

We are back after a week off, and Dhani has A LOT to talk about.  So she tries not to linger about anything for too long, but you know how these things go.   First, Dhani explains why she isn't talking about Captain Marvel this week, but it will definitely be on our next podcast.   So the movies that Dhani discusses first are Second Act and Isn't It Romantic.  Then she dives into the documentary of the week, Leaving Neverland.  Here Dhani and John do talk about their opinions of the situation, but mostly Dhani tries to talk about the documentary itself.  Next, Dhani moves to TV and talks about the series that have ended, True Detective and I Am The Night.  Now John gets to join in as they both talk about the end of The Masked Singer.  Then Dhani talks about her being late to the show Ride with Norman Reedus.  She loves this show and will be revisiting the previous seasons.   There was an announcement this week about the end of Arrow and Dhani had to talk about this as it makes her very sad.   Then, Dhani need

Great movies to talk about this week.... First, Dhani finally saw Spider-man  Into the Spider-verse.  She really loved the animation and the story that brought all of the Spidey heroes together.   Next, Dhani talks about watching, through tears, Ben Is Back.  She talks about how gut-wrenching it was, but also extremely well done.   The last movie is a smaller one called A Kid Like Jake.  A good movie to watch that could lead to a good discussion.   Moving on to TV, Dhani talks, in probably too much detail, about the docuseries Lorena on Amazon Prime.  She loved this series and appreciated that it is finally settling the truth to Lorena's story and hopefully making people realize what they should have all along.   Next, once again, John and Dhani discuss The Masked Singer.  We are down to the last show this week and they still don't know who the Monster is!  We will find out this week! This week we don't have much new stories to talk about... so we revisit some old things we still enjoy watching.  Don't worry, we manage to still fill the hour!  First, John finally watched Searching, so they both discuss their thoughts and how important the presentation of the film helped the mystery of the story.   Next, John wanted to talk a bit about Won't You Be My Neighbor, even though he has only seen the last hour.   Next, Dhani quickly runs down the movies that she is excited about which come out this year.  These include Captain Marvel, Us, Long Shot, Shazam, Avengers:Endgame, The Lion King, Toy Story 4, Spiderman:Far From Home, Hobbs & Shaw, Downton Abbey, Frozen 2, and finally Star Wars Ep 9.  Lots of movies to look forward to this year! This was a slow viewing week for Dhani, but they still managed to fill an hour with babbling on.   First, Dhani talks about the movie First Man.  This turned into a long discussion about movies including personal stories when it might not be needed.   Next, John finally watched The House With The Clock In Its Walls, so he tells his point of view on this movie.   Moving to TV, Dhani and John watched the Netflix Comedy special, Ray Romano: Right Here, Around The Corner.  They both didn't exactly appreciate Ray Romano before watching this, but really enjoyed this special! Then Dhani talks about a show on A&E called Many Sides of Jane.  A fascinating look into a young woman with Dis-associative Identity Disorder.  Definitely worth watching to learn the truth behind this disorder.   Next, Dhani talks about the premiere of The Walking Dead and how amazing the start to the second half of the 9th season was! This week's episode seems to be filled with bleaker content... it wasn't planned that way, but hang in there.   First Dhani discusses the rom-com Nobody's Fool.  She talks about how Tyler Perry always creates male characters that say the right thing and work for the women who watch.  :)   Next, Dhani talks about a documentary on Netflix called Abducted in Plain Sight.  This is tough subject matter, but it is quite a story that is a cautionary tale to all families.   Moving on to TV, Dhani first talks about the new show I Am The Night based on the true story of Fauna Hodel's autobiography.  It looks to be an interesting series directed by Patty Jenkins.  The next show Dhani talks about is the live airing of RENT.  Or the almost live production.  Because this is her favorite musical, she was underwhelmed.   The next show we discuss is the ending of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.  Dhani really enjoyed the way it ended and feels it is one of the funniest shows ever.   Finally, Dhani watched a brand new show on Netfli

This week is mostly about movies as Dhani tries to see all of the nominated films before the Oscars.  She's almost there! First, she talks about Can You Ever Forgive Me? with the nominated performances from Melissa McCarthy and Richard E Grant. Next, Dhani talks about Bumblebee.  Not a nominated film, but she keeps trying these movies in hopes she will enjoy it as much as the very first Transformers.   With 6 nominations, Dhani finally saw BlacKkKlansman.  This is an up and down movie.  Very entertaining but also very difficult to watch.  Important for everyone to see and discuss.  Next, Dhani talks about Widows.  Great performances, but she felt like something was missing... not sure what yet.  Finally, John and Dhani talk about the Best Picture nominations for the Oscars.  Dhani is having a tough year with the award shows this season.   Moving on to TV, Dhani and John discuss the latest season of Grace & Frankie.  For some reason, they both did not enjoy this season but cannot pinpoint what fell short. 

This week John and I go completely overboard in our fandom of M. Night Shyamalan!   First, Dhani saw Glass and talks about her love of Unbreakable and how Split and Glass have worked into the story.  Honestly, she mostly talks about Shyamalan and her love of his filmaking.  Next, John and Dhani finally saw Bohemian Rhapsody.  They both love Queen, but came out of this biopic with strong differences of opinion regarding the movie.   Next, Dhani saw The Nutcracker and The Four Realms.  She enjoyed it much more than she thought, so that was a pleasant surprise.  And the final movie Dhani saw is the Christmas movie, Anna and the Apocalypse.  She loves musicals more than anything, so it's tough for Dhani to not enjoy this movie... even though it's campy, the music was good enough to carry through.   Moving on to TV, Dhani wanted to just touch on the new season of True Detective that just started.  She really liked the first two episodes and it seems that this third season is already better than the second one was.

Unfortunately, when we went to publish this episode, the first 20 minutes had been wiped out... so the entire movie section is gone!  But Dhani quickly gives you a rundown of The Favourite, Colette, and Ralph Breaks The Internet.   Then we pick up the recording in the middle of Dhani fangirling over Luther.  Then Dhani and John gush about the show I'm Sorry with Andrea Savage.  It is one of the funniest shows on television right now.  Next, Dhani discusses the Netflix show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo and how she is now motivated to clean out the house.  Finally, Dhani discusses another Netflix show called Friends From College and how this has brought so many loved sitcoms up to date and into the next decade of life.   Finally, we discuss the films of Emma Stone in our Actors' Corner.  We each name her movies that we love, like, hate, haven't seen or want to watch.   Movies (0:30) The Favourite ★★★ Colette ★★★ Ralph Breaks The Internet ★★★1/5 Luther (4:25) I'm Sorry (9:30) Tidying Up with Marie Kondo (13:44) F

Happy New Year!   We start the new year with just a few new TV shows and some older movies.  First, Dhani talks about watching The Oath with Ike Barinholtz.  She liked the content, even though it wasn't as funny as she thought it would be.   Next, she discusses a very heavy movie called Beautiful Boy.  This film deals with drug addiction and the toll it takes on the addict as well as the family.  Very well done and important viewing.   Next, John has caught up on some older movies, so he talks about his thoughts on Life Of The Party, Black Panther, and Game Night.   Moving on to TV, Dhani talks about the final season of A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix.  She loves this entire series and explains why.  The topic of discussion is a surprise joy to both Dhani and John and that is the show The Masked Singer.  They are both shocked at their interest and enjoyment of this show! Not a lot to discuss this week as Dhani spent time watching TV series instead of movies... but here we go!  First, Dhani watched Bad Times At The El Royale.  She had high expectations for this movie, and the first half met them, but the second half was a let down.   Next, Dhani talks about season 2 of Marvel's Runaways on Hulu.  She is surprised how much she enjoys this show, yet after John points out she likes all Marvel entities, it seems to make sense.  Next, Dhani talks about the new adaptation of Vanity Fair on Amazon Prime.  She had different realizations about Rebecca Sharpe while watching this iteration.   Finally, we move on to the 2018 Corner, where both John and Dhani discuss the movies from 2018 that they loved, liked, hated, and still want to see.   A shorter episode this week, but hopefully you are reminded of the good year we had in movies and TV.  Happy New Year and see you all again next year!
