  • Fear or Faith - Acts Part 2 Week 22: Acts 19:11-20

Fear or Faith - Acts Part 2 Week 22: Acts 19:11-20

    14/06/2020 Duration: 36min

The birth of the church in Ephesus was chaotic, but the power of God overshadowed it and brought peace. As people came to believe in Jesus their fear was turned into true worship of God. A generation later the church of Ephesus had “lost their first love,” and their focus became inward; as they grew, they lost their passion and impulse. God wants us to see the vibrancy and the Holy Spirit’s power and Christ’s resurrection and Salvation for us! DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE WATCH FULL SERVICE ON YOUTUBE

  • Baptism of the Spirit - Acts Part 2 Week 21: Acts 19:1-10

Baptism of the Spirit - Acts Part 2 Week 21: Acts 19:1-10

    07/06/2020 Duration: 39min

The trajectory of Acts shows us how God is bringing the world back to Himself through His own redemption. Paul, in the city of Ephesus, spends his time talking to three groups: those waiting for the Messiah, Jewish leaders, and the Greeks (Gentiles). Paul was concerned with the Holy Spirit’s work both in the lives of individuals as well as the whole community. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE WATCH FULL SERVICE ON YOUTUBE

  • Community of Faith - Acts Part 2 Week 20: Acts 18:12-28

Community of Faith - Acts Part 2 Week 20: Acts 18:12-28

    31/05/2020 Duration: 35min

Luke shows that the story of the Gospel going forward is much bigger than Paul or Peter, as it is God’s story; Jesus is the main character. Today see that 1) The community of God (the church) springs up right where people already are, 2) The community disciples each other, and 3) It takes all kinds of people to live and walk together as we grow faith in Jesus. Fear Not - Do Not Be Silent - I Am With You - Acts Part 2 Week 19: Acts 18:1-11

    24/05/2020 Duration: 37min

There is much to learn from how God responds when Paul reaches a point of being exhausted, tired and depressed. God promises three things 1) Fear not, 2) Do not be silent, and 3) I am with you. These promises are written for our benefit so we would understand and trust God. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE WATCH FULL SERVICE ON YOUTUBE

  • Gospel in a Cultural Context - Acts Part 2 Week 18: Acts 17:16-34

Gospel in a Cultural Context - Acts Part 2 Week 18: Acts 17:16-34

    17/05/2020 Duration: 36min

The culture into which Christianity was born was just as skeptical and hostile to the claims of Christianity as ours is today. Because of Paul’s desire for the people in the world to know Christ, he heads into the marketplace to share the good news of God’s complex love. Tim Keller points out that Paul’s reasoning in the market place shows: 1) The cultural power of the Gospel 2) The intellectual power of the Gospel and 3) The personal power of the Gospel. • Mothers Day 2020: Covid 19 and Moms

    Mother's Day 2020: Covid 19 and Moms

    10/05/2020 Duration: 38min

I have asked a few moms to share with you. Some you may know, some you may not, but they are all part of Element. I asked them to speak about their real lives right now in the C19 world. Joy for Jesus and for Paul was an understanding of life that encompassed both elation and depression…because God is sovereign and rules over all things. We can FEAR NOT, not because we not HAVE FEAR, but because God is with us. God has good for us and life itself is headed toward a good that can be neither imagined nor stopped no matter what virus comes our way. As someone else wrote, “The great illusion is that joy and peace are primarily feelings that depend on our circumstances.” WATCH FULL SERVICE ON YOUTUBE

    The Gospel’s Provoked Response - Acts Part 2 Week 17: Acts 17:16-34

    03/05/2020 Duration: 36min

Because of His understanding of the Good News, Paul was motivated by the Holy Spirit to speak truth to the people of Athens. This provocation led him to have a heart for the intellectuals who were morally empty as well as for the common people who were worshiping created idols. • Government and the Gospel - Acts Part 2 Week 16: Acts 17:1-15

Government and the Gospel - Acts Part 2 Week 16: Acts 17:1-15

    26/04/2020 Duration: 37min

The book of Acts shows how the Roman government and many officials responded to the commotion that the message of the Gospel was making in the world. Paul will suffer hardships at the hands of the government as well as experience its protection. Because of suffering at both the hands of the people and the government, Paul will start to relate the message of the Gospel in terms of our “Suffering Savior” because he understands that in the Christian life we will be subject to suffering. Suffering for Doing Good - Acts Part 2 Week 15: Acts 16:16-40

    19/04/2020 Duration: 35min

God’s servants are not protected from suffering that will come with the proclamation of the Good News - which is: that Salvation is achieved not by any of man’s works, but by grace alone. We need to recognize, acknowledge and believe Jesus is LORD of our lives and that it is Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection through which God invades our dark spaces and says, “You are mine.” DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE WATCH FULL SERVICE ON YOUTUBE

  • No One: John 14:6 - Easter 2020

    No One: John 14:6 - Easter 2020

    12/04/2020 Duration: 32min

When Jesus said in John 14:6, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me,” those words meant something in His cultural context. When Jesus and John the Baptizer said “repent,” it meant something in their cultural context. It is important for us to understand how we speak of God’s words into our current cultural context as well. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE

Tradition Versus Traditionalism - Acts Part 2 Week 14: Acts 16:16-18

    05/04/2020 Duration: 36min

Reading Scripture alongside tradition is different than reading Scripture through a lens of tradition. God wants us to be a people who trust the words of Scripture over our own opinions that we have turned into traditionalism. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE

    A World of Maps - Acts Part 2 Week 13: Acts 16:6-15

    30/03/2020 Duration: 33min

God uses everyday situations to change Paul in how he trusts God. Paul goes from a “self-referenced follower of God” to a “Christ-referenced person” as God changes him from being fearful to trusting, possessive to receptive, controlling to expectant, and divisive to expansive. All Things to All Men Part 1 - Acts Part 2 Week 12: Acts 16:1-5

    23/03/2020 Duration: 33min

Paul champions “saved by grace alone,” but in order to be culturally relevant to the non-Jesus believing Jewish community, he and Timothy will follow a custom that will help them make inroads. Paul’s aim in making himself a “slave to all” is three-fold: to win others, to save others, and to be a partaker of the benefits of the Gospel. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE

  • As Iron Sharpens Iron - Acts Part 2 Week 11: Acts 15:34-41

As Iron Sharpens Iron - Acts Part 2 Week 11: Acts 15:34-41

    16/03/2020 Duration: 36min

Christians continually need to be “re-gospeled:” reminded of what God has done for us in Christ. This brings about a continual transformation of our hearts and lives, because like Paul and Barnabas, we tend to forget who we are, who God is, and what He has done for us. 02/03/2020 Duration: 42min

The law that was set up in the Old Testament was designed to point us to our need for a Savior. We can still fall into the same traps as the Pharisees by adding rules, structures, or guidelines that destroy the good news. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE

Rejoicing in What God is Doing - Acts Part 2 Week 8: Acts 14:24-28

    24/02/2020 Duration: 37min

The Gospel is both good and bad news – bad in the fact that it shines a light on the devastation of our sin, and beautifully good in the fact that it engulfs suffering and brings true joy because of what Jesus did for us. We can rest knowing that evil is defeated which brings hope, rejoicing, and fuels us to spread the Gospel as much as we can. DOWNLOAD PDF SERMON NOTES HERE
