Hello and welcome to Episode 75 of BUDDHA BEATS! Our first episode of 2022! This month we have tracks from Yves Deruyter, Chris Kolle, Mython, Yan Cook, and myself. This is a techno mix, so don't expect it to let up, not one bit! It’s time to head to The Temple folks! Let’s get those sneakers on and LET’S GO!!!

This month's mix is a serious exercise in the hard/dark techno genre. I have combed through my collection for the selections used here, and they're here because of their sonic characteristics as well as rhythm and danceability. There will be artist names you may have never heard of. If you hear a track you like, I urge you to go and support them. Because like yours truly, every little bit helps. Make sure you have earplugs to save your hearing, and stretch before dancing, especially to this mix, as we'll be traveling at 130+ BPMs. And I wouldn't want you to pull a muscle or anything.

So, for this month’s mix, I wanted to return to one of the first styles I got into as a DJ. Back then, music like this fell under the name of “breakbeat”. This evolved into a much better one: DRUM & BASS. And like many other electronic genres, it has its offshoots. Jungle, Jump-Up, Tech-step, Ragga-Styles, Intelligent, Jazz-step, Atmospheric, Neurofunk, Hard-step, Dark-step, as well as Dubstep. From these we also now have the sultry, jazzy Liquid Funk (lots of beautiful vocals, very dream-like). If you want to check out some DnB artists on your own, look up Goldie, Doc Scott, DJ Rap, Aphrodite, Grooverider, Fabio, and S.P.Y. for starters. This month's mix is a grooving house mix that has some classics, as well as some tracks that have been disco-flipped so beautifully, that I had to include them. I had a lot of fun putting this mix together. There's even some "neighborhood cookout" style funk too! Lots of fun, groovy, disco-style house vibes this month. What a great way to celebrate our latest national holiday, Juneteenth!

This mix starts at 130 bpm, and climbs up throughout the whole thing, and you'll feel it build as you listen. Sure the pace may seem blistering for the uninitiated, but trust me, you'll love it! It keeps you moving the entire time. There are some classics as well as a remix of a classic that is quite awesome.

Episode 64 is a return to when I was doing multi-genre mix sets. With COVID-19 still keeping clubs and venues closed, and all of us off of dance floors (especially here in the US), I though it'd be good to revisit one of my favorite styles besides Techno, Disco/Funky House.

This month's episode was mixed by yours truly. I decided that I wanted this month's offering to have a start and a finish, where when finished, you'll feel like you've had a good club night out. If you wanted to feel like you went to an illegal rave, and didn't leave until the birds were ushering in a new day, then this mix has got you covered. Other than that, I'm very proud of this mix, as it has a real beautiful opening and closing, with all the mayhem of a sweaty, underground, warehouse rave crammed in between!

This month's podcast mix is a very special one coming all the way from Tel Aviv, Israel. I bring to you, Qu-Zen! When I tell you that this mix is special, due to her vast range of genres, what she brings to any event she plays is nothing short of epic. Qu has graced the decks in Melbourne (Machine), Berlin (Tresor, Globus, Kit Kat Club), and Wee Jasper (Dragon Dreaming Festival). Qu-Zen is also a producer, and her music can be found on the Sounds Something and Hypnotic Room imprints. This mix is going to take you back to those old school rave days, as well as into the future with some of the heaviest techno. This mix is in the 145-150 BPM range, so if you wanted something to go with your morning run, prepare to take flight! For those of us who prefer a dance floor, the walls will be sweating also! Episode 58 is a special one, I am pleased to present one of Philadelphia's most soulful DJs, and my friend, Khaleel "The Funkboy" Mason! Khaleel and I met in 2017, but not in Philadelphia. We met through a mutual friend on a gig in Ibiza, Spain. We did six dates there, and had a magnificent time. I have had a really fun time playing at this speed, and it actually makes you want those longer, 6 minute tracks when your mixing, allowing you to be expressive.  There are 17 tracks played here, with time for you to get lost amongst the notes, but also to keep your heart and feet locked in for the ride!
