If you've never watched the movie it should be fun to hear what we thought of it - IF you have seen it I'd love to hear your feedback and see if you felt the same way the two of us did watching it. i hope you enjoy this more relaxed style of show, because it was a lot of fun to put together.    -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson & Sari Graham Produced by: Rebecca Larson Imaging by: Troy Larson Music Credits:  Modern Jazz Samba Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-larson/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-l

  • Thomas, the diplomat and the Siege of Pest

    13/10/2018 Duration: 15min

Oct 13, 2018 at 3:52pm   Hey! Welcome to the show! This will be the first show where I debut my new equipment AND new imaging from the amazingly talented, Troy Larson.  Thomas, the diplomat and the Siege of Pest is a new concept for me. I don't often speak of anything diplomatic or military, because it used to bore me. I was more interested in the relationships and the drama. Little did I know that the research for this podcast would change my mind all together. That by understanding an important piece of Thomas Seymour's history I understand him all the more. The battles, sieges and wars were a large part of Tudor lives and to neglect them is to do an injustice. So, here I go...stepping outside the box and producing a new sounding podcast about a subject I knew little of before choosing it as a topic. If, as recommended in the podcast, you'd like to follow along on Google Maps (or wherever you prefer), here are a list of cities mentioned: Vienna  Nuremberg  Esztergom  Buda (Budapest, Hungary)  P

  • Elizabeth Stafford, Duchess of Norfolk

    22/09/2018 Duration: 16min

Sep 22, 2018 at 5:02pm In this week's episode I decide to go back to my roots and discuss Tudor women. This podcast is about Elizabeth Stafford, wife of Thomas Howard, 3rd Duke of Norfolk and mother to Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey and my favorite, Mary Howard, Duchess of Richmond and Somerset. --  Thank you so much to you all for your continued support! • Plantagenets & the Wars of the Roses

    08/09/2018 Duration: 44min

Sep 8, 2018 at 4:57pm This podcast is a bit unconventional for me. I've decided that talking about the Tudors, or any royal history, for that matter is more fun when you have someone to do it with. Sari Graham and I have become friends through social media and we share an interest in all things Tudor. I am honored to have her as a guest on the show today so she can teach me, and maybe you as well, a bit about the Wars of the Roses.    -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits:  Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-larson/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-larson/support

  • Why the Tudors?

    25/08/2018 Duration: 30min

Aug 25, 2018 at 4:21pm I was having a difficult time coming up with a topic for this week's podcast. I reached out to my followers on Facebook and a couple of them mentioned that they would be interested in finding out what got me interested in The Tudor dynasty in the first place. I thought it was a fantastic idea and so I ran with it. This episode begins talking about Henry VII and the Battle of Bosworth as well as Elizabeth of York and leads up to the birth of Prince Arthur. I discuss my genealogy, my DNA, favorite programs and so much more. If you really want to get a feel for who I am and what drives me then you'll love this episode. *side note - I discovered later that I am NOT related to the person I mentioned. It was a bad hint. (You'll know what this means after you listen) As always, I say thank you to all my patrons and to those of you who have supported over the years. Thanks again! A very special thank you to Nathen Amin for allowing me to share the quote from his social media a

  • Most Influential Women: Margaret Beaufort

    11/08/2018 Duration: 16min

Aug 11, 2018 at 8:02am   On my Facebook page called, Tudors Dynasty, I asked my followers who they believed to be the most influential women of the Tudor era. It is because of this poll that I decided to turn this into a series of episodes about some amazing Tudor women.  With this episode I focused on Margaret Beaufort, someone that I have not written much about in the past so it was fun to learn more about her.  -- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits:  Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/  --- Sources:  https://thefreelancehistorywriter.com/2014/01/10/lady-margaret-beaufort-the-kings-mother/ https://www.theanneboleynfiles.com/lady-margaret-beaufort/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Beaufort,_Countess_of_Richmond_and_Derby https://www.historyextra.com/period/medieval/12-things-you-probably-didnt-know-ab

  • Understanding the Man: Henry VIII - Part Two

    02/06/2018 Duration: 30min

Jun 2, 2018 at 6:00pm   This is the second and last part on my "Understanding the Man" series on King Henry VIII. As many of you may already know, King Henry VIII is my favorite monarch of the Tudor dynasty. If it wasn’t for his reign I do not believe the Tudors would be as popular as they are today. In this episode I continue on my journey to explain the Henry I have learned to love...and hate. In this series on Henry VIII I want to take a different look at the king who executed two of his six wives. My mission is to make those of you who look at him as a tyrant to see what made him into the man he became later into his reign.  --- Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits:  Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-larson/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/reb

  • Most Fearless Women in Tudor England

    05/05/2018 Duration: 19min

May 5, 2018 at 8:15pm   Episode: Most Fearless Women in Tudor England   I recently finished reading a couple of books about Mary Tudor, sister of King Henry VIII and Queen of France; it got me thinking about how fearless some of these women in the Tudor period really were. By today’s standards they would not be considered as brave (depending on what part of the world you live in of course), but in 16th century England the things these women did may have been considered reckless and disobedient by their male counterparts. -----  Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca Larson Produced by: Rebecca Larson Music Credits:  Suonatore di Liuto Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/  --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-larson/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rebecca-larson/support

  • Episode: Edward VI's Regency Council

    02/04/2018 Duration: 26min

Apr 2, 2018 at 12:37pm   Episode: Edward VI's Regency Council   After producing my series on Lady Jane Grey I thought I should step back a bit and look at the beginning of Edward VI's reign. As many of you already know I have an obsession with Thomas Seymour - it is at the time of Edward accession to the throne that things began to sour for Thomas Seymour...where he may have foresaw great favor and wealth, realty brought him much less. Thomas Seymour was not even trusted by King Henry VIII to be on the regency council of his own nephew. This episode will focus on the events that occurred prior to King Henry VIII's death and will end with each of the sixteen men on the council and a bit about them. I would also like to take a minute to apologize for the slaughtering of English place names, surnames and events -- I didn't realize until after the fact that I may have done a bit more research on how to pronounce a few things - my apologies, in advance. -----  Written by: Rebecca Larson Voiced by: Rebecca L
