“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him ”-  ‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭18‬:‭4‬ ‭(NIV‬‬) Clay that is brought in from the field is unstable and full of impurities. Before it is shaped on the wheel the clay is to be refined with fire. Leave the clay on the wheel and it will revert to its previous form. God does what is suitable and necessary for us to perform our God-given function and for us to be the best He has designed us to be.
