YOUTH ACHIEVERS USA INSTITUTE (YouthUSA) promotes asset building through its capacity-building program, THE ANNUAL YOUTH ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS. Since 1996, the program has partnered with families, churches and community groups to qualify youth as “assets” instead of liabilities to their communities.  A total of 86 young Americans now qualify as beneficiaries within the YouthUSA Corporate Village.  A free online application is available to any American citizen, age 7-24.  Each application presents “a vision of the future” through the youth’s goals in seven categories.  A “Whole Village” of 20 caring adults each invest $5 to establish a $100 savings asset in a partnering bank. Roughly two-thirds of Black and one-third of Hispanic children live with only one parent.   Moreover, research suggests that a father's absence increases the risk of his Black child dropping out of school by 75 percent.  And even
