The Parents Music Resource Center's Moral Crusade against Porn Rock and Prince

Informações:

Synopsis

The Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC) was founded by Tipper Gore, wife of Senator and later Vice President Al Gore; Susan Baker, wife of Treasury Secretary James Baker; Pam Howar, wife of Washington realtor Raymond Howar; and Sally Nevius, wife of former Washington City Council Chairman John Nevius.  On September 19,  1985 members of PMRC, known as the "Washington Wives" attended a Senate hearing. During the hearing Frank Zappa. Dee Snider  and John Denver  testified against the Recording Industry Association of America's decision to place a “Parental Advisory” sticker on album. Today on Popular Education I will be joined by Michael B (@UrbanHumanbeing) and we will explore the different sides of this moral argument.   Hit me up on insta: @populareducationradio or email me at: PopularEducationRadio@gmail.com Citing: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parents_Music_Resource_Center https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1985-11-01-mn-740-story.html https://www.retroreport.org/transcript/
