Dealing with Gossip, Envious People and Liars

Synopsis

Have you ever heard the saying, “if you don’t want your secrets to get out, don’t tell anyone?” Or what about when someone tells you that someone was gossiping about you and you reply, “why were they so comfortable saying it around you?” These questions, though slightly different situations, makes us question who we can trust. We are social beings and communicating with others is inevitable. When we are excited we look forward to sharing the good news with our friends and love ones, and when we are hurt we seek to confide in those same people. It would be a blessing to say that everyone would celebrate our victories and stand with us during the storms, but unfortunately this is not so, all the time. So how do we handle those moments? You know the moments when you find out a friend is not happy about your proposal or job promotion. The moments when you find out that a friend smiled when they heard you didn’t get the loan for your dream home. The moments when coworkers lie on you to gain favor with your boss.
