This is the fifth part of the teachings on the Letters of John. John is teaching us if we claim to know him then we will keep his commandments, which could translate to guard or even protect his commandments. John 14: 15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments." If we claim to love Christ, then we in turn we will keep His commandments. This means that we submit our will to Him. By keeping His commandments God's love is perfected or made whole in us. Jesus is our example, if we abide in Him we ought to live as He lived, in submission to the Father.
