Tayyab Mahmud is a Professor of Law and the Director of the Center for Global Justice at Seattle University School of Law. One of his publications entitled Migration, Identity the Colonial Encounter examines Stories of Migration in Colonia and Post Colonia South Asia, but what of Migration in American History? How has America s history of Immigration Policies and Identity Politics played a role in shaping present day society? In the election cycle of 2016, a lot of time and attention has been given to certain comments made on the National stage against specific communities, but more broadly, against Immigrant in general.
