18 of 30: Ever heard of the term Unanimity? EP 149

Informações:

Synopsis

Unanimity is not something that is talked about very often. It basically means that everyone in the group agrees. When we talk about voting or group dynamics, usually majority wins, even if that’s the only one vote. The problem with that in volunteer 12 step fellowships like I attend, sometimes half the group can leave disagreeing with what happened. It can create division and resentment over the long term and get in the way of a valuable support group. I bring up this topic not because anything major happened but because I like it better when a group takes longer to make a decision instead of hearing a topic for the first time and within five minutes voting to change something. I believe that the group can usually make a better decision than me on my own, and I prefer some extra time to let topics breathe.
