The UK Government overnight announced plans to introduce laws which would override a key part of its Brexit deal with the European Union, The Northern Ireland Protocol. UK foreign Secretary Liz Truss has labelled aspects of the Protocol recklessly destabilising and irresponsible. The EU has responded to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's threats of unilateral changes by warning Brussels would respond with all measures at its disposal - potentially meaning trade measures and tariffs could be applied.
