What you might not have noticed is that they're trying to have it both ways. In one moment, they argue the Russian Federation exists totally independent of its Soviet roots. In the next, they argue that the Russian Federation has the highest and best property claim to Baltic and Eastern European territories based on a chain of custody originating with... the USSR.
