A graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and Columbia University, he also studied abroad, in Florence, Italy, and at Les Ecoles d'Art Américaines de Fontainebleau. He has lectured on design and served on the faculties of several university architecture programs. Born and raised in Los Angeles, he currently resides in Greenwich Village with his husband, Neil Drew.
