On March 7th 2013, President Obama signed into law the re-authorized Violence against Women Act that provides for more services for victims of Domestic Violence. This law will give agencies the ability to apply for grants and obtain money to help educate about the prevention of sexual abuse and have the ability to care for Domestic Violence victims. Rape victims also had a victory because now the testing for DAN should be shorter providing for a quicker resolution to finding rapist that are in the system quicker, helping to get them off the street. 26/09/2013 Duration: 01h35minFemme is a term used by many feminine-identified queer people from diverse and equally valuable backgrounds including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other queer folks. Femmes are fierce and use their voices to make themselves visible. Nevertheless, as femme women, they are often invisible to other queer people. They are often seen as heteronormative, apolitical, less radical and less queer in a community where being visible depends on being masculine or androgynous. This femmephobia in queer communities – this devaluation and stigmatization of queer femininity – is a form of misogyny that is rooted in dominant patriarchal culture Keisha Watkins and Nkenge Jazz Burkhead are the co-founders of SMEARED LIPSTICK.
