    30/07/2017 Duration: 48min

When someone tells my teacher that they don't believe in God, he generally asks them to describe the God that they don't believe in. Surprisingly, many of them do so, indicating that their disbelief is rooted in particular conceptions of God rather than the notion of God in general. He is often able to reply that he also doesn't believe in that conception of God either. We will explore some of those conceptions and how the Bhakti tradition sees God.

  • Questions for the Sages 25 - Jiva Tattva dasa

    10/07/2017 Duration: 01h43min

Today I spoke with Jiva Tattva dasa, whom I see regularly on Sundays at the Hare Krishna temple in Potomac Maryland. We work together to record the Srimad Bhagavatam class, which meets at 10:30am Sunday mornings. We get into a fairly involved discussion of the story of Prahlada Maharaja. This story is quite well known among Indians and Hindus, but if you are unfamiliar with it, it can be found in the Srimad Bhagavatam. It spans from Chapter 3 of the Seventh Canto, through to Chapter 10. http://www.vedabase.com/en/sb/7/3 We also touch on many other topics. Jiva Tattva dasa is very learned in the scriptures, so there some times when I tried to rephrase things in layman's terms.
