"Tulpas and Spirit Guides" The latest fads in internet forums are invocation of Tulpas, imaginary friends who become real and start talking to people as voices in the head. The consequences can be tragic, such as in the Slender Man case where 12-year old girls tried to murder a friend.  Tulpa invocation is in fact an ancient Tantric Buddhist tradition, and these are familiar spirits, demons that the Bible tells us to avoid at all costs.

God's Kingdom is not Political Beware of Pharisaic, domnionist leaders who think a pious, evangelical leader will save the nation. God's Kingdom is not of this world. Instead of paying attention to appearances (sexual sin is easy to hide), use as guidelines  for decision the hope of living a quiet, peaceful life (1 Tim 2:2).   It should be a practical, not a metaphysical decision. Set your heart in the coming eternal Kingdom of Christ instead. 

God "put" mankind in the Garden.  The Hebrew meaning behind our word "put" is to bestow safety, rest, and respose.  Mankind was not there to just "keep" and "till" the Garden, but was placed there as priests to Worship and Obey their Creator God.  Working the ground only came after the fall in disobedience.  The Hebrew language brings out much more than our English versions suggest.  It is the theme of the Torah; Safety and Rest come from Odedience and Worship to the Creator God.  Now more than ever, we need to be safe and at rest.  The time has come to take heed of our spiritual condition.

Sandwiched between two genealogies of SHEM (name) occurs this little story about Babylon, its city, and tower.  Humanity is divided into those who "Make a great name (Shem) for themselves," and those whom God makes their name (Shem) great.  Noah's son Shem, which means name or character, has two descendants that split humanity into these two groups.  First Joktan's descendants leave the good land and travel East to the plain of Shiner to build for themselves a great name.  Second, Peleg's descendants are followed to the birth of Abraham.  The Babylonian religion can be recognized by any one or thing that wants to make a great name for themselves.  Traveling away and Eastward  from God's blessing and promised land always ends in ruin and destruction, as this episode will reveal.

Have we arrived at Genesis One?  Are we about to experience the new creation of a new heaven and earth?  The Book of Genesis is prophetic.  It is divided into two main parts; first, the beginning and spread of sin that culminates in the destruction of the planet by flood, and second, the focus on one man named Abraham in whom God's salvation and promises would come to a fallen world.  Are these two sections prophetic in nature with Abraham being the historical typology of Jesus Christ in whom salvation and promise is made to a fallen world?  Then as if traveling full circle, we find we live in a world of utter spiritual darkness and wickedness just as in the days of Noah, only to be culminated by the destruction of time and eliminated prior to a new heaven and a new earth arrives.
