It's amazing, and pointed out, that Canada is only playing a symbolic role in the fight against climate change.

Tonight is the debate on proportional representation and it's going to be interesting to see exactly what they are debating due to the unprecedented move where people are being asked to vote on a system they don't know the specifics of.

Taxes are up, regulations are up, and bureacracy is up - across all levels of government. Asking for more taxes, regulations, and bureaucracy is not the answer. 

Today is the midterm elections in the US and really nothing has changed since the election.  It doesn't matter who wins or loses, there will be no change to the anit-establishment movement.

When it comes to the gender wage gap, no serious discussion can take place because if you look at the data and come to a different conclusion than the narrative of the main stream media, your ideas are silenced or looked over.

Donald Trump's election, Brexit and other anti-establishment populist politics in Italy, Hungary and Austria as well as huge volatility in currencies, stocks, real estate, bonds and  art -are all fueled by this one big trend.  And there's more to come. 

For the first time since the 70's, the United States is the biggest producer of oil in the world.

The announcement that Angela Merkel will step down at the end of her term in office, could have far reaching implications.  Especially when it comes to the US dollar & the European Union.

A Carbon Tax is not a bad idea if the tax is revenue neutral.  It's imperative for politicans to midigate any negative impact on individuals, business and the economy as a whole.  A Carbon Tax that is not revenue neutral fails that test.

Over the past 4 years we have had to endure a silly amount of talk about the housing market in Vancouver.  Politicians have droned on about what they will do about affordable housing while simultaneously adding thousands of dollars to the sale of detached homes and condos.

Federal spending has cracked the $3billion dollar mark this fiscal year with tax revenues up 6%.  Dispite the growth in revenues, the debt is racking up.  Can Canada continue on this path?

Lets wait for all the details on the Federal Government's carbon tax, but from the early indications it looks like BC could end up paying the most.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers have started rotating strikes after not reaching a deal with their employer.  But do you care?  At the end of the day, postal workers get paid by you, the taxpayer.  With a company that loses money, should taxpayers be on the hook to pay for a dying business?

US environmental groups are going to be thrilled with the election of Kennedy Stewart.  Stewart fought against the Kinder Morgan pipeline and US groups who funnel money into Canada will no doubt be celebrating.  But the bigger prize for US environmentalists is coming up with the referendum on Proportional Represention.

When celebrities weigh in on politics does it inform voters of the current political climate?  Taylor Swift recently started talking about the wage gap between men and women, but does she have all the facts and is she spreading false information to her loyal fans?

There are only a couple of days before the civic election and there may be more interest from people in Alberta than here in BC.

Is it speculation? or is it a tax grab?  The speculation tax, when first introduced, was said to go after foreign buyers, but that wasn't quite accurate.

The heads of MADD are singing the praises of ride sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft, and with Legalization of marijuana in Canada, isn't it time for BC to get on board?
