Say It With Your Chest

This is a topic that is extremely important to me and highlights the very ideas on which this podcast is built. Rosalin, Beny, Mindorr and I discussed, from our different points of view, the black experience. We traded stereotypes we once had about eachother and how we learned to let them go through education and our various experiences. We discussed a theoretical "United States Of Africa", its feasibility, advantages, disadvantages and what role we as young black people would have to play. There are many issues keeping black people separated, we offer a solution.

     Simply put this is SIWYC X Sneh Entertainment. I was joined by two of the minds behind the MN based media/entertainment group (Samson Akintan and Stephen Tidjani). We discussed what it is like to be a young African living, and flourishing, in the diaspora. Our conversation touched on integrating into American society, dealing with stereotypes, institutional racism, language barriers/accents, dating in a foreign country, their plans to help Africa and much more.     They gave an outline of how Sneh Ent. began and what their plans are or the future of the group. They outlined their challenges in building the business and pushing the boundaries. They gave insight into what their motivation are as entrepreneurs and as servants of the African community as they both served as presidents of the African Student Association.

     This is the second episode of a series of 2. On this one, I was joined by 4 amazing women whose opinions and points of views are essential to this discussion. They are Alima, Kemi, Toun and Sarafina aka "Aunty".     We discussed issues pertaining to relationships that young people today face. Given that only women spoke we concentrated on the female point of view on the issues. We all gave our honest opinions on what was discussed. This episode follows one with only men. With both taken into consideration we achieve an evenly balanced perspective on the discussion.

I took the liberty of including their nicknames to help you follow along.     We discussed issues pertaining to relationships that young people today face. Given that only men spoke we concentrated on the male point of view on the issues. We all gave our honest opinions on what was discussed. This episode will be followed by one with only women to get an evenly balanced perspective on the discussion.

On this episode of SIWYC I was joined by Alima, Akrem and Carlton for a discussion on gender roles and feminism. We had a diverse blend of opinions going back and forth on important points pertaining to our topic.
