Well, it’s been a few months. Quite frankly, Disney’s recent political missteps have really given us a lot to think about. The two of us (Mike and Dave) make this little show because we love the history of the films and theme parks of Disney - but their involvement with funding politicians pushing discriminatory legislation made us wonder over the past few months about whether we could continue supporting them. It’s your boys Dave and Mike returning to your ear holes with a new episode of The Add More Mouse podcast! We interrupt our Disney Documentaries miniseries to revisit and update one of earliest series that looked at Disney attractions that were made into movies. With the new Jungle Cruise film finally hitting Disney+ this month, we felt the need to dive in. We look at the Easter eggs that point to the longtime attraction, and we discuss our opinion on the movie’s ranking in the Disney attraction-to-film pantheon. This is a wild one, folks. Well, as wild as we get, anyway. Only available as a bootleg on certain streaming sites, this documentary chronicles the making of The Emperor’s New Groove, starting at the very beginning when the cast, script, title, music and director were all completely different. But is there a good reason this movie remains unavailable on reputable streaming sites? Why does Disney not acknowledge its existence? Hello there! Dave and Mike are back to talk about the next film in their Disney Documentaries series: Walt and El Grupo! This film centers on the pivotal 1941 goodwill trip Walt Disney went on with a team of artists to gather info for animated films based in South America. Spoiler alert: it’s a delight! Today is the 3rd episode in a 4 ep miniseries called Fact and Fiction, wherein we look at a few movies in the Disney catalog that were “based on a true story,” and we take a look at just how accurate they are. In this episode we’re looking at a true Disney 90’s classic, Cool Runnings. Mike and Dave take you through what parts of this movie were taken from real life and which parts were invented for the screen. Were these characters real athletes? Did the coach of the real Jamaican bobsled team have a cheating scandal in his history? Why do they make it seem like running and bobsledding are part of the same olympics? Why is one of the characters named Yul Brynner? Was Jar Jar Binks based on Doug E Doug’s performance in this? Join us as we answer about half of those questions. Dave and Mike are back with the second episode of their “Fact and Fiction” miniseries which looks at some of Disney’s movies that were “based on a true story” to determine just how close (or far) from reality they were. This time we’re looking at one of Dave’s childhood favorites: Iron Will! Ever wanted to know about dog sledding and whether it’s cinematic portrayal is realistic or not? No? Well too bad, baby, because that’s what we’re talking about! We did some research, and we’ll give you all the facts you never knew you wanted to know about the 1917 Red River Dogsled Contest. Oh snap! It’s the Add More Mouse podcast and we’re starting a brand new miniseries! Since the beginning of the Disney company, the storytellers there have often looked to real events and people to base projects on, such as Davey Crocket, any of the 100 sports movies Disney has put out, or all the way back to Walt’s own project True-Life Adventures. But in Hollywood, real events often do not follow a traditional film’s three act structure, so writers and directors change the real stories in order to make them “more cinematic,” often while giving the audience a skewed idea of what really happened. We start our “Fact and Fiction” miniseries with 1995’s Pocahontas, the 33rd Animated Classic released by the studio. Your hosts dig into the burning questions audiences might have after seeing this film: Was Pocahontas real? Was her best friend a hummingbird? Did trees talk to people a few hundred years ago? The answers may (not) surprise you!

Well, it’s still winter time, and your hosts Dave and Mike both live in Ohio where it is cold, snowy, icy, windy, and grey...so what better time to sit down and fantasize about hanging out at Walt Disney World? On this episode of the Add More Mouse podcast, your hosts each pick three things they love to do when they’re at the parks with the caveat that these are not attractions or rides. Dave interviews Karen Shriner, a professional singer and actor who has worked as a Cast Member for both Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line for over 14 years. In honor of the holiday season, they discuss Karen’s history of performing for Disney at the holidays, including her role in the annual Candlelight Processional. Dave also asks tons of questions about how she keeps her voice in shape when she’s singing all day everyday, and they discuss some of the Disney magic Karen has gotten to see up close. They also touch on the state of the parks in 2020 and the role live performance must continue to play in the future as the world plans to rebound from the global pandemic. In this episode, the boys close out their miniseries looking at Disney sequels and segue into whatever holiday magic they can scrounge from what remains of 2020 by looking at the first sequel to the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast - which happens to be an entry into Disney’s secular Christmas canon. Is it good? Why is the villain the only CGI character? Why is chip’s mom so old? Is this Tim Curry’s greatest performance? Have we lost our minds?
