Episodes

  • Episode 49: Disney Anger

    09/04/2022 Duration: 59min

Well, it’s been a few months. Quite frankly, Disney’s recent political missteps have really given us a lot to think about. The two of us (Mike and Dave) make this little show because we love the history of the films and theme parks of Disney - but their involvement with funding politicians pushing discriminatory legislation made us wonder over the past few months about whether we could continue supporting them. In this pretty freewheeling episode, we talk through our feelings on the issue. We would love to hear your opinions: addmoremouse@gmail.com.

  • Episode 48: From Attraction to Film - The Jungle Cruise!

    01/12/2021 Duration: 54min

It’s your boys Dave and Mike returning to your ear holes with a new episode of The Add More Mouse podcast! We interrupt our Disney Documentaries miniseries to revisit and update one of earliest series that looked at Disney attractions that were made into movies. With the new Jungle Cruise film finally hitting Disney+ this month, we felt the need to dive in. We look at the Easter eggs that point to the longtime attraction, and we discuss our opinion on the movie’s ranking in the Disney attraction-to-film pantheon. We also try to unravel the ridiculously complicated plot of this film that is about a whole lot more than just cruising the jungle. Email us at addmoremouse@gmail.com, and tell a friend about the show!

  • Episode 47: Disney Docs #4 - The Sweatbox

    30/10/2021 Duration: 43min

This is a wild one, folks. Well, as wild as we get, anyway. This episode is the fourth installment of our “Disney Docs” series…as in “documentaries.” And this one truly lives up to its name: The Sweatbox. Only available as a bootleg on certain streaming sites, this documentary chronicles the making of The Emperor’s New Groove, starting at the very beginning when the cast, script, title, music and director were all completely different. But is there a good reason this movie remains unavailable on reputable streaming sites? Why does Disney not acknowledge its existence? Ahead of that we tackle some important things, like Bluey, Prop Culture, and Ohio weather. It wouldn’t be Add More Mouse if we didn’t spend time talking about the weather. In this episode we’re looking at a true Disney 90’s classic, Cool Runnings. Mike and Dave take you through what parts of this movie were taken from real life and which parts were invented for the screen. Were these characters real athletes? Did the coach of the real Jamaican bobsled team have a cheating scandal in his history? Why do they make it seem like running and bobsledding are part of the same olympics? Why is one of the characters named Yul Brynner? Was Jar Jar Binks based on Doug E Doug’s performance in this? Join us as we answer about half of those questions. 06/04/2021 Duration: 48min

Well too bad, baby, because that’s what we’re talking about! We did some research, and we’ll give you all the facts you never knew you wanted to know about the 1917 Red River Dogsled Contest. • Episode 38: Disney’s Pocahontas - Fact and Fiction

    20/03/2021 Duration: 56min

Oh snap! It’s the Add More Mouse podcast and we’re starting a brand new miniseries! Since the beginning of the Disney company, the storytellers there have often looked to real events and people to base projects on, such as Davey Crocket, any of the 100 sports movies Disney has put out, or all the way back to Walt’s own project True-Life Adventures. But in Hollywood, real events often do not follow a traditional film’s three act structure, so writers and directors change the real stories in order to make them “more cinematic,” often while giving the audience a skewed idea of what really happened. We start our “Fact and Fiction” miniseries with 1995’s Pocahontas, the 33rd Animated Classic released by the studio. Your hosts dig into the burning questions audiences might have after seeing this film: Was Pocahontas real? Was her best friend a hummingbird? Did trees talk to people a few hundred years ago? The answers may (not) surprise you!

Mike’s take place in the parks, and Dave’s take place outside of the parks, and honestly we don’t know if this will help you plan your next trip, we were just desperate to talk about warm weather activities. It did the trick and brightened our spirits, so here’s hoping it works for you, too!

In this episode, the boys close out their miniseries looking at Disney sequels and segue into whatever holiday magic they can scrounge from what remains of 2020 by looking at the first sequel to the Disney classic Beauty and the Beast - which happens to be an entry into Disney’s secular Christmas canon. Is it good? Why is the villain the only CGI character? Why is chip’s mom so old? Is this Tim Curry’s greatest performance? Have we lost our minds? We must be, since we originally uploaded a version that wasn’t finished being edited! We’re professionals!

    01/12/2020 Duration: 46min

Hi. Welcome to the Add More Mouse podcast. Dave and Mike love Disney stuff. They are doing a miniseries on Disney sequels. For this episode, they decided to discuss Cars 2. They have questions. So many questions. The most important of which is: how do you make a sequel to a story about small town pride and courage in the face of uncertainty? You add machine guns, explosions, torture and death, and voila: you get Cars 2.

  • Episode 30: Halloween Spook-tacula-ganza with Hocus Pocus

    01/11/2020 Duration: 01h03min

Hey there! This is the Add More Mouse podcast, a podcast about Disney stuff that sets itself apart from all the other Disney podcasts by being the only one hosted by Mike and Dave. This time, we take a break from our Disney sequels miniseries to celebrate Mike’s favorite holiday: Halloween. The boys do this by discussing the 1993 Bette Midler cult classic Hocus Pocus, a film Mike grew up with and Dave has just watched for the first time. Predictably, their opinions of the film differ. Along the way they discuss some Disney history in regards to the Eisner era, Bette Midler and the advent of Touchstone Pictures, and fall into some fairly predictable Disney trivia rabbit holes as well. They also discuss which Disney Halloween costumes they have forced their respective pets and children into.
