In this lecture, Dr Boot shows how modern political liberalism no longer seeks justification or legitimisation for its vision of justice and morality in anything other than an evolving social contract. As a result sexual morality has been politicized and immorality and vice are rationalized by declaring immorality to be moral, injustice to be the new justice, and sin to be a human right.

When we seek to act as gods, determing life and death for ourselves, we create a culture of death. The God of scripture alone determines life and death and it is in and through Jesus Christ that we can have abundant life.

With the decline of Christianity in our contemporary culture, the value of life has been lost. For the Christian, the law of God shows us the value and conditions of life.

We need a renewed vision of what it means to be God's people both in our vocations and the life of the church in order to fulfill his calling for us in a failing culture. We need to understand the hope which is our calling, the inheritance which is ours in Christ, and the greatness of his power that is given to us who believe.

Part of the purpose of God's redemptive activity in history is healing and wholeness for the whole person. This lecture explores the priestly calling of those in the medical profession.
