The scribes and Pharisees were always trying to trick Jesus into compromising, but He never did. Drawing near to God is a thrill that fills you with peace and joy. But thoughts of doing so can make you afraid. This is a problem that needs an effective solution. The Bible says, "Holy, Holy, Holy, is the Lord of hosts" (Isaiah 6:3b). We also know, "There is no one holy like the Lord" (1 Sam. 2:2a). Once you understand His provision—for both the inside and the outside of you—and you let your heart believe it, you won’t have to stay away from God because of shame.

    God knows how strong and driving your need is—He designed it that way. You can be confident that by turning and drawing near to God He can and will meet that need! The Bible says, "...the heart of man reflects man." (Pro. 27:19). When you understand your heart better, you will understand something vital to being able to cooperate with God and help yourself grow spiritually. Spiritual disciplines are of vital importance to our growth as Christians. But consistent Bible study, prayer, and enjoying God's presence are things that people have to grow into.

    Abiding in the Presence of God, a Command with a Promise! "Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.'" But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive..." (John 7:37-39). This promise is for you! God is waiting for us. Will you obey God and come into His Presenceand Soak for a while? "And without faith it is impossible to please Him for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him" (Heb. 11:6).

    It is very important for you to note that it is your delight to abide inside the radiance around God as your security and strength that will make it easy for you to turn and face toward Him: "for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also" (Mat. 6:21). I have found that the principle of treasuring God works best when you apply it in the context of your thirst for His presence as your refuge, glory, and strength. Be wise in your pursuit of God. Use your thirst for God to your advantage! Let your heart enjoy the abundance of His grace. "Turning" is a spiritual activity that should not be overlooked and dismissed as just "Bible talk." But don’t worry about whether you understand the spiritual act of turning yet. You will.   • The Power of God in Us

    Paul says something stunning. He says that God’s power "is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20). Then he says, "To him be glory in the people he has called out, and in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 3:21). If Paul had said, “To him be glory in Christ Jesus” we would not have been startled. But Paul says that God is glorified also "in the people he has called out". God’s power is at work in God’s people to his glory! Is that not amazing?   • THE FLOW

    What a thrill it is to "flow in the Spirit." You feel that what you are doing is worthwhile; you feel authenticated, you feel loved; you know you are a part of something very important—the kingdom of God. What does it mean to "flow in the Spirit?" It is moving along with Him, keeping in step with Him, and missing nothing He may want to do through us. The joy of flowing in the Spirit is equal to anything God may ever do for us and in us. God wants intimacy with us, and there is no greater joy than to keep in step with the Spirit. To flow in the Spirit is to learn God's ways, style, gentleness, indignation, impulses, manner of doing things, and His way with people. In other words, flowing in the Spirit is doing what pleases the Spirit and what He This is what Peter and John were doing when they were walking toward the temple one afternoon but were unexpectedly stopped, only to see the healing of a forty-year old man who had never walked. God's nature was manifested in an ordinary human life in the actions and the thoughts and words of a human life. That's what happened when Jesus was born. The word became flesh. It expressed itself in the actions and the thoughts and words of an ordinary human being. I John 4:2,3, "By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God.     To Know the Love of Christ. In Ephesians 3:19, Paul's prays that we should "know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge". Can you think of anything else that you and I need to know, that would transcend this? Our knowledge of Christ's love should be shared. It should be no secret. "I know the love of Christ, mate, what about you?" and in the knowledge of his cross we find love We consider it an act of supreme love when someone lays down their life for a friend (Romans 5:7). Jesus laid down his life for those who were not his friends, that they might become his friends.

    Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Jesus lived in an agricultural age where His audience is very well familiar with what Christ exactly means. For a plowman to be successful in His work, he must concentrate on the job he started. He knows that the only way is forward and not being distracted by the things left behind. In case the plowman starts to look back, his plow line would become crooked. If that happens, the field he is plowing will not yield a full harvest. Why would he become unfit for the kingdom of God? We are commanded to bear much fruit. When we keep on looking back, we won’t be able to plow our field properly and because of that, we will not have plenty of harvests.   • Our minds like to play tricks on us

    Proverbs 4:23 says, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Our thoughts are the starting point of our actions, perspectives, emotions, and more. Everything you do flows from the heart, and that can either benefit you or hinder you and the relationships you have. Philippians 4:8 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” I absolutely love this verse from Philippians. It reminds me of what a godly mindset should be. When my mind starts to go down a path I don’t want it to, I think of this verse. Are my thoughts excellent or praiseworthy? The power of your thoughts can change your entire demeanor. Remember the verse above in these times of negativity or insecurity. Give it to God!
