  • Episode 701: ”Strike Her! Strike Her!” - interview with Striker

    03/06/2022 Duration: 03h11min

How do you follow up a legendary "Bucket List" interview? How about with a Juno Award winner! Joining last week's "Creature Feature" Exciter at the Manitoba Metalfest was Canuck trad metallers Striker! So now is a great time to get caught up with former RAM alum vox Dan Cleary. We discussed winning said award and the  "Strike Her!" gag from the classic "Airplane" flick. Last episode we took the Nuge up to task for the beef with Joan Jett. So we put our money where our mouths is and came up with our own "Top Ten Greatest guitarists" lists. To do this properly, it's definitely harder than it seems. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss the new Tony Hawk doc. Musically, we crank new and used from the aforementioned Striker + Grave Digger, Razor, Cryptopsy, (the real) Slaughter, Jungle Rot, Outre Tombe, Riot.303 and Nekkromaniac. • Episode 700: We’re So Excited! - interview with Exciter

    27/05/2022 Duration: 03h16min

Like the lady said..."We're so excited!" First off, this is another milestone with episode 700!! Plus, we recently experienced a night of firsts at the recent Manitoba Metalfest. It was the first time the legendary Exciter played our neck of the woods. It was the first time we've seen the classic line up live. And finally, it was the first time we had the good fortune of getting drummer/vox Dan Beetler onto our interview hotseat. Our excitement for Exciter goes back as far as for Heavy Metal itself with the classic "Violence And Force" album. So we didn't even really know where to begin with Mr. Beehler. But at the same time we had a thousand questions for him. We discussed the band's history with Megaforce Records and what the future holds! Another Bucket List interview! In our "News, Views and Tunes", we go into extra innings discussing Judas Priest and Onslaught going into the "Rock n Roll" and "Metal" HOFs, the impending return of Spinal Tap, and completely dissect the Joan Jett/Ted Nugent beef. Musically

  • Episode 699: Give ’Em The Axe

    06/05/2022 Duration: 02h21min

Heavy Metal comes in all shapes, sounds, forms and sub (sub) genres. But one constant is the electric guitar. The guitar epitomizes Heavy Metal. So if you're not a well seasoned player, then the guitar could be taken for granted. Or at least to the point where, as fans, we don't necessarily have a firm grasp on the instrument. 50% of us here at RAM are a said seasoned player. And the other half is more of an appreciator. So combining our efforts, we're taking a look at the driving force behind  our beloved genre. Namely, our takes on the major offerings from the major brands. Hopefully this episode will give you an appreciation for "The Axe". In our "News, Views and Tunes", we give our thoughts on the shooting at the L.A. deathcore show. Musically, we crank new and used from Ripping Corpse, Dead Head, Sore Throat, Suppression, Wraith, Modern Terror and Crawling Through Tartarus. Horns Up and Stay Healthy! Another Record Store Day is in the books! In our travels, we had a few misses. But the hits were nuclear! Apart from the cool new official releases, RSD is an overall experience. Hopefully with stories to tell for years to come. So this week we're sharing said experiences and basking in our RSD treasures. Both official and unofficial. As well, with the arrival of the american idol "reality" type bullshit programs, we championed the idea of giving a similar stage to real musicians. Artists creating and showcasing their original compositions. Enter - "No Covers". A cool new YouTube program feat. judges like Alice Cooper and Lzzy Hale. It's a great show so you know it's not on network/normie television. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank new and used from Sentient Horror, Juggernaut, Mongrel's Cross, Besieged, Chained To The Dead and introduce Canadian thrashers Derelict for a return spot in in our "Indie Spotlight". • Episode 695: Nuked Us All

    06/04/2022 Duration: 02h05min

Mr. Dan Lilker recently announced that Nuclear Assault will be hanging up their leather spiked boots soon. Our interest in the outfit actually predates NA themselves as Lilker was the bassist on the Anthrax debut. So we've been a fan of the NY crew right from the get go. With this announcement, we felt it was a good time to pay tribute to NA. We go over all our fave music and moments and the multiple connections to this very show. Thx Guys! In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we make an amazing vinyl discovery and make some Bandcamp purchases live on the air. Musically, we crank new and used from Skull Fist, Brutal Truth, Haunt, Blurring, Against Evil, Unsanitary Napkin and, of course some Nuclear Assault. • Episode 694: Evening With Bruce Bruce

    01/04/2022 Duration: 02h09min

The legendary Bruce Dickinson is a man of many talents. Most noted for his work in Iron Maiden, Dickinson has shown time and again that he's so much more. So with such a storied life, Brucie Boy would obviously have a lot of stories to tell. Thus his spoken word tour. With the date in our area come and gone (with memories fully implanted in our brain), this week we're doing a deep dissection of all the fantastic stories from Mr. Bruce Bruce. He left no stone unturned and had the building laughing and cheering. All without a single instrument or song. Just a bunch of Bruce. Next up, Big Hank. 25/03/2022 Duration: 02h07min

The Curse has been lifted! The Plague has subsided! Praise be The Metal Godz! Concerts are back! We just enjoyed our first NinjaCat Productions show back after the lay off. Many more sonic assaults are looming on the horizon as well. So this episode we decided to share our "Dos and Don'ts" once everyone's concert schedule hits full stride. • Episode 692: Gimmicks

    17/03/2022 Duration: 01h57min

"Gimmicks" in the Metal World are nothing new. Some more recognizable examples are the KISS/King Diamond warpaint and Iron Maiden's mascot Eddie. But there are a variety of bands that have their own ideas of trademarks that we may not even take notice. For instance, Kerry King's arm spikes, Corpsegrinder's neck and various  guitarist's signature designs. So we do a deep dive into all these. You'll be surprised with what we came up with. 09/03/2022 Duration: 01h41min

It's that time again! The Juno Awards are fast approaching May 15th in Toronto. The Junos are Canada's equivalent to the grammys in the US. • Episode 690: What Is Metal?

    04/03/2022 Duration: 02h33min

On the surface, the question "What is Metal?" might seem a bit "Huh?" But the idea of exactly what Metal is can be as diverse as our beloved genre itself. Of course when thinking of Metal we think of the driving beats of the skins, the face melting riffs, the thunderous bass and the thought provoking (or just entertaining) lyrics. Metal (and punk/hardcore as well) is more than what you hear when you press "play". It's an idea, a community, and an attitude. This time around we dissect it all. And bathe in it's blood. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank tunage from Holocaust, Possessor, Sepulchral, Warrior Path, Elizabeth, Neptune Power Federation and introduce LA hardcore bashers Vintage War in our "Indie Spotlight". • Episode 689: Super Duper Show

    25/02/2022 Duration: 02h12min

So America just had their big annual sportsball extravaganza - The Super Bowl. Did your team win? Do you care either way? The half time show seems to capture the attention of fans just as much as the big game. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to cater to the Metalheads/Punks. But dare to dream. Now obviously the Dying Fetus' and Pig Destroyers of the world won't be playing the half time show anytime soon. But there are a number of HR/HM bands that are household names enough to represent our beloved genre. So we dove into our choices. And came to the conclusion that Joe Average football fan needs some more Gwar in their lives. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discover we've been immortalized on vinyl. And musically, we crank some new and used from Anvil Bitch, Malignant Altar, Archagathus, Thunderor, Embryonic Autopsy and we introduce Chi-Town's Burned in Effigy in our "Indie Spotlight". • Episode 688: Crushing It

    18/02/2022 Duration: 02h21min

Traditionally we dedicate this episode to our annual Valentine's Day Massacre. But being minus any female co-hostesses this year, we just weren't feeling it this year. We still want to do something to celebrate this special day though. It's safe to say that everyone in their youth goes through that whole "crush" phase. Those special artists that we had those special feelings for that go beyond just enjoying the tunes. So in the spirit of VDay, we figured we'd share some our crushes from our early daze (not surprising we name two Runaways). As well, we share some stories from when we were face-to-face with some of these objects of our youthful affections. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we crank some new and used from Allegaeon, Abysmal Dawn, Body Void, Heir Apparent, Kat and Life Sentence. Horns Up and Stay Healthy! • Episode 687: Johnnies On The Spot

    11/02/2022 Duration: 02h38min

The Metal World recently lost two important figures named Johnny. Mr. Johnny "Z" Zuzula was the founder/owner of the mighty Megaforce Records. The upstart label released a number of excellent albums that helped shape us as fans of our beloved genre. We also lost actor Howard Hessemen. For our more mature listeners, Hessemen will be best known as "Doctor" Johnny Fever on the awesome "WKRP In Cincinnati" sitcom aired from '78-'82. The Doctor was a major influence on the creation of Radioactive Metal. So this week we thought it would be best to pay tribute to these Johnnies. First with discussing some of our fave Megaforce albums/songs. As well, we reminisce some of our fave episodes/moments on the mighty "...K.R.P." In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss Meatloaf (RIP) and menstrual cycles(!), the whole Rogan/Young spotify thing, and the new/classic Slaughter album! Musically we crank new and used from Exciter, MOD ClassicTK, Pupil Slicer, Abhoria, Solicitor, the aforementioned Slaughter, and introduce Swe

3...2...1...Happy New Years!! Unfortunately with all that's going on it the world, there's not much going on in terms of NYE celebrations. But we didn't want to left out in the cold, literally and figuratively. So we decided we'd make recording this special episode our own New Years bash. We invited our buddy Jack to join us in cracking a stack o' wax and just kick back and shoot the shite' about nothing in particular. We yapped about the "Golden Age" of Metal, 80s Judas Priest, "Weird " Al/Ramones, American politics and some Star Wars and MCU. Ho! Ho! Holy Shit! It's that time again. But before we wrap up this year and unwrap some of Satan's...uhm...Santa's gifts, we're gonna start your hooligan holidaze with another banging episode. This particular discussion topic we have to squeeze into this year. 2021 marks the 40th (!) anniversary of 1981. Those 365 days provided the Metal World with some key album releases, band formations and news stories. We go over all the whys and wherefores that helped shape our beloved genre as we know and love it. • Episode 682: In The Beginning...

    10/12/2021 Duration: 01h51min

At our ripe old age, your RAM hosts have been on this planet for as long as Heavy Metal itself. So, with the exception of the formation of the genre itself, we've pretty much seen the birth of all the significant sub genres. We remember well those first important, ground breaking records. So this week we decided to share the whys and wherefores of our beginnings with a.o. Black, Thrash, Crossover and NWOBHM. Of course with so much history behind these relatively short 50 years, we barely scratched the surface. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we crank some new and used from Eternity's End, Black Spell, Mortal Vision, Stormkeep, Avenger, The Accused and introduce Philly's Morgul Blade in our "Indie Spotlight".
