St. Theodore of Tarsus, Archbishop of Canterbury and St. Egwin, Bishop of Worchester lived during the times when the Church in England was unified. The Virgin Mary appeared to St Egwin in Evesham. St Egwin then built the Evesham Abbey, the 3rd great monastery of England. Henry VIII had it destroyed in the 1600's. The surrounding neighborhoods used the stones from the ruins for other building projects. Today, the Evesham Trust is working to revive this forgotten wonder’s rich history.   There are links, photos and more about this on my website. St. Mary Mazzarello and the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, aka Salesian Sisters. St Mary Mazzarello had a vision of a big building filled with orphaned girls. She remembered this vision when St Bosco of the Salesians asked her to create the Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians to take care of abandoned young girls. St John Bosco, aka Don Bosco’s mission was to fulfill the Virgin Mary’s request: Help orphans from the slums of Turin in the mid-1800’s. While overseas last fall, I literally “stumbled” on the “Marian Column” in Old Town Prague. The story of the Marian Column of Prague is obscure. It had been hidden behind the Iron Curtain for too long. The original built in 1650 stood for 300 years before being destroyed in 1918.   There are links, photos and more about this on my website. In October 1859, the Virgin Mary appeared 3 times to Adele Brise near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Can you feel the gradual shift towards Christmas by the activities of people around you? Also in this podcast is the story of the apparition of "Our Lady of Guadalupe" from my book, “The Constant Procession.” This week also reminds me of December 7, 1941, when paradise was attacked in Hawaii at Pearl Harbor. Can you imagine how that day of Infamy thrust the USA into war with Japan and also Germany during WW2?  Fortunately for humanity this first week in December also includes the "Conception of the Virgin Mary" and December 9th also celebrates the day St Juan Diego had an apparition of the Virgin Mary in Mexico City (December 9 -12) in 1531.
