Alright Mary: All Things Rupaul's Drag Race

We’re down to the Final 4, Mary’s! This week, Sasha, Shea, Trinity and Peppermint are rapping, dancing and podcasting their way to the crown. And let’s be real. all four of them killed it. We talk about what each queen brings to drag as the Final 4 (spoiler alert!), our thoughts and questions on trans and bio queens and the reason this season was all about internal conflicts, before wrapping things up with Last Chance Lipsync you won’t want to lose.

This week, the queens go not quite balls-to-the-wall for the Gayest Ball Ever. Rainbows and unicorns and Village People, oh my! Shea constructs one of the best looks of the season, while Sasha deconstructs the rainbow and Alexis...well, we'll talk about Alexis. We discuss drag vs. fashion, queens holding back, the importance of selling it on the runway, and who we think will make it to the Top 3 (and is it really that obvious?) and wrap things up with a priceless Last Chance Lipsync.

It’s Season 9 at its most meta—the queens are dragging up members of the production crew for this season’s makeover challenge. We discuss the inevitable conclusion of Nina’s self-sabotage storyline, the wonder that is Wintergreen (and Sarge…), the importance of three wins, Peppermint without her wig on, dropping appetizers and, of course, our predictions as we hit the home stretch. We wrap things up with a queer hipster Last Chance Lipsync in honor of Colin’s move to Brooklyn!

The queens team up to write, produce and star in television pilots that range from must-see TV to you-must-be-kidding-me. Sasha and Shea continue their reign as frontrunners, while Nina and Valentina concoct a fever dream of ad-libbing and literal pancake makeup and Trinity just steals the entire show (both her pilot and Drag Race itself). Then it’s an acid trip on the runway with an outlandish ode to club kids—but let’s be real, Mary’s, this episode is ultimately about one thing and one thing only: that MASK.

No one's safe at a roast, chickens--especially one this undercooked. This week, the queens practice first on each other, in one of the slightest reading mini-challenges of the series. (Well, unless you ask Alexis.) Then they set their sights on a supposedly unsuspecting Michelle Visage. While Peppermint hits all the right notes and Sasha's Jersey jokes leave us feeling very edified, half of the girls rely on characters that are nowhere near Ru's good cousin from the Brewster Projects. (To say nothing of a "wicked" dud of a closing act.) A lifeless lip sync only serves to remind us just how much better this challenge worked on Season 5.

The queens are giving us 90’s nostalgia this week with “9021-HO”—a throwback to a time before Farrah Moan was even born. While Trinity is giving us spot-on Jennifer Coolidge realness, Nina continues to battle her inner saboteur and Valentina’s #longcon starts to show in new ways. We discuss the unfortunate edit Alexis Michelle is getting, the impeccable rise of Shea Coulee, and debate who really should have won that lip sync. Plus: RPDR meeting SNL, some fabulous drag we both saw this week, and an incredibly, well, 'satisfying' Last Chance Lip Sync.

It is the high holy day of the season, Mary--Snatch Game! The queens are bringing their best celebrity impersonations to the panel. Alexis is Liza with a capital Z, Shea could throw a phone at us any day as Naomi Campbell and Nina has SOMETHING TO SAY! We discuss Peppermint's coming out, gender identity & the media, Ru's makeup, the brilliant banter in the Untucked lounge, and of course, THAT LIPSYNC.

The kweens are keeping up with the kountry's kraziest--okay, enough of that. it's Kardashian the Musical, but the drama is off stage as much as on as Nina duels with her inner-saboteur, Alexis gets "tough Mom" on the girls in Untucked and the queens open up about impossible beauty standards in the gay community. (By the way, hey Pit Crew!) But the biggest gag comes from Momager Ru herself, with a surprise elimination that left everyone crying and dancing over the credits.

Rise and shine, ladies! The pressure is on to have a personality as the queens are tasked with giving us morning show realness. Sasha and Shea finally get some overdue attention, while Aja and Valentina are being emotionally evolved Millenials in the workroom. We discuss the continued theme of kindness, which queen we think is playing it safe, share some parting words for Charlie and of course, discuss the origin of the expression "Alright Mary!"

The queens are tasked with creating their own fairy tale princesses (and problematic sidekicks) in this week’s episode. Despite it being season 9, some of the girls still don’t know how to sew. (In the wise words of Shea Coulee, why y’all acting brand new?) We discuss the queens’ powerful POV’s post-Pulse, filtered drag on Instagram, whether or not Valentina is totally conning us, Kimora’s monkey, Aja’s untucked meltdown, our deeper love for Shea, continued adoration of Sasha, the importance of supporting local drag, and an impossibly dreamy Last Chance Lipsync.

The queens are tumbling for their lives this week in a cheerleading challenge that, frankly, left us jeering. Jaymes Mansfield struggles to come forward, Kimora Blac throws shade at cartwheeling and rhinestones, Peppermint shares a powerful story from her past and Valentina reveals her true drag mother. Then it’s a White Party on the runway and a B-50-snooze of a “Love Shack” lip sync. We queen out on the importance of kindness between the queens, spill some T on World of Wonder/Logo/VH1, check in with our sister podcast and send you out with a Last Chance Lipsync you oughta know about.

The wait is over, Mary! Season 9 has officially begun, and we are Gaga-GAGGED! We are given looks, looks, looks all episode, from mindblowing (Sasha Velour...) to middling (Jaymes...), and of course, so much wisdom, kindness and perfect pronunciation of fashion designers' names from Lady Gaga. Plus an Untucked for the ages and a final twist we saw coming from a mile away. Cu-cu-could it really be Cynthia? (Yes. Yes it is.)

Thanks to some altruistic attendees of the Season 9 premiere party and an apparent wealth of memory on their iPhones, we got to see a bootlegged first 20 minutes of the first episode of Season 9! But before we get into a feast of spoilers, we react to the recently released super trailer and go in deep on the topic of misogyny, bottom shaming and gender policing in the gay community. Plus our predictions for the season, Alright Amanda and another Last Chance Lipsync!

Tyra Sanchez is offering no Ru-pologies on Twitter while Venus D’Lite takes to Facebook Live to do the exact opposite this week. We discuss the intersection of drag and social media, plus RuPaul’s latest appearances in the mainstream media, the performances that wowed us at the Season 9 premiere party, and our final segment of “Give Her Another Take!”, featuring Aja, Alexis Michelle, Nina Bo’Nina Brown, Peppermint and Sasha Velour. We're living our All Stars 3 fantasy this week with a wish list of runners-up from seasons past we'd like to see back on the mainstage again, but first it's our segment "Give Her Another Take!" where we get to know Season 9 queens Valentina, Kimora Blac, Charlie Hides and Jaymes Mansfield a little better before the season premiere later this month. Plus: words of wisdom from Jasmine Masters!

The wait is over, Mary's! Season 9 of Drag Race is officially premiering on March 24th, and with 30 seconds worth of a preview to feast on, we make a meal out of scraps and queen out on every minute detail, from who's who out of drag to some runway looks that already have us GAGGING!

With the Season 9 premiere just around the corner, we get to know the queens a little better in a new segment called "Give Her Another Take!" Before taking a closer look at Eureka O'Hara, Farrah Moan, Trinity Taylor and Shea Coulee, we queen the F out on "The Comeback" and the brilliant NUANCE of Valerie Cherish.

Reunited, and it feels okay. All of the eliminated queens have returned for a brief catch-up with Ru, followed by a thorough rehashing of some long-resolved conflicts, before giving an Overstock.com gift card to Ben as a consolation prize and finally handing a scepter to Bianca for a job well done, (Wait--isn't there supposed to be a crown? This is a crowning, for god's sake.) We also give out some end of season awards ("Pick Two!")and queen out about "The Comeback."

Our final four queens are in the last lap of the race—time for some Sissyography, some fabulous overacting, Ru offering Tic-Tac’s and truth over lunch with each of the girls, and a final lipsync that really doesn’t make a difference in deciding who goes to the Top 3.

The top 5 queens are getting stoned this week--designing looks inspired by precious gems and jewels for the Glitter Ball. But not before reading each other to filth via puppets, stumbling through some hasty choreography and bringing a variety of interpretations of what "banjee" means to the runway.
