Unspoiled! The Constant: Lost

Well, what can I say? We were so bored by this episode. The reveal of Kate's crime is so basic, so average, so unsurprising that it ultimately was kind of a disappointment to both of us. We somehow still had fun talking about it, but mostly because we made fun of it. Next week is going to be so much better. We're really excited about that one.

Ana-Lucia's been through some shit, you guys, and not just on the Island. This poor woman deserves to have a long, long, looooong nap in a very soft bed with the comfiest blanket imaginable. She needs some chamomile tea. And a big ol' bowl of ice cream. So, we talk about her a lot. We also touch on how calm Eko is, Krista tells us the story of Gilgamesh, and we finally have the reunions we've been waiting for. Love is all around! Well...except around A-L and Sayid.

And here it is: we finally learn what happened to the Tailies after their crash. They had it way worse than our people, and we all give Ana-Lucia some credit for protecting them. We are joined by frequent guest host Maggie to discuss all of it.

In this episode we are joined by Unspoiled Podcaster Money to say goodbye to Shannon.

In this episode we get to witness Jin and Sun's lives before each other, and their adorable meet cute. We also enjoy a series of vignettes between Sun and various people as she looks for her lost wedding ring. Meanwhile, on the other side of the Island, the Tailies start their trek to join the rest of the survivors, and Jin gets a somewhat better, and creeptastic, view of The Others.

Oh, Hurley. It's so sad how he isn't overreacting to his situation because in his past, he lost friends - or, at least one friend - when he won the lottery, so he's super paranoid about being the one in charge of keeping the rest of the survivors from the food. Charlie doesn't help matters with his attitude, but in the end, Hurley is the best of them all and does the exact right thing.On the other side of the island, we have a bit of a debate about Ana-Lucia, but really we're just happy that Bernard is alive and can't wait for the reunion between him and Rose. It has to happen. The show isn't *that* cruel.

A weird film and literal button pushing abound in this episode! We also learn who Helen really is, and we loooooove her! We might love her more than Locke, because we would NEVER choose that douchestick kidney thief over her. Desmond also sort of explains what the Swan Station is, and then vamooses out of there, followed by Jack and bringing us the biggest cry yet from our intrepid doctor. Oh, and the rafties are thrown into a hole in the ground and tricked by Ana-Lucia, losing their gun in the process.

So, this episode is structured differently than any of the previous season in that we revisit the happenings in the Hatch, only we see it from Locke and Kate’s perspectives (kind of. We don’t know what Desmond did to Kate, really). We also spend some time with Sawyer and Michael as they drift along peacefully…just kidding. They argue the whole time. And we end up right where we started: on the beach, on the Island. It’s actually a really great episode.

And here we are you guys, finally into season 2! I’ve been worried about this season because originally I didn’t love it, but upon rewatch I am enjoying it so much, and I hope Krista does too as we go forward. In this episode we finally get inside the Hatch! We meet Desmond! We debate about Locke! We spend so much time talking about this stuff that Krista never once wonders why we haven’t seen the Rafties. It’s so fun!

This week we are joined by fellow Unspoiled Podcaster Maggie to discuss the crazy season 1 finale. We changed up the format a bit and forego the scene-by-scene analysis since the finale was two hours long. We have a lot of thoughts about the Rafties, why Sayid should be the leader, Jack making decisions for Kate, Locke’s crazy faith, and what the hell the Smoke Monster is!

And here we go, guys! In this episode everything is set up nicely for the finale! We have Danielle Rousseau showing up, black smoke, The Black Rock, the security system, and the launching of the raft. We also have a really great scene between Jack and Sawyer that gets a lot of attention.Next week we'll be joined by special guest Maggie for the two part finale!

This week we have our final Kate episode of the season, and it's...pretty much as informative as her previous two. In this episode we meet the man she loved/the man she killed, and we see what happens that led to his death. We also have some poisoning by Sun, some high-and-mighty-ing by Jack, some exposing of Kate's secrets by Hurley and Sawyer, some debating by Jack and Locke and Sayid about the hatch, and some weirdness by Walt. And Charlie gets a haircut. Sort of. We'll be back next week with the first part of the three part finale!

In this episode, we learn why Sayid was in Australia, where he got those pictures of Nadia, and what lengths he’d go to just to find her. Which bothers Krista a lot, because on the Island he seems to have forgotten all about her now that he’s met Shannon. And speaking of Shannon, she gets a little murder-y.

In this episode we learn that Jack is the most committed man anyone has ever met. He’s committed to marrying a woman that he definitely saved but who may have actually saved him. He’s committed to saving Boone regardless of the lack of supplies, equipment, or available blood in his own body. Or it might be that Jack is just “committed” to being the hero. Which ever one, he seriously almost commits to chopping off Boone’s leg.Oh. And Claire has her baby.

Here we go, guys. In this episode, we have Locke feeling like the Island is testing him, a drug smuggling plane which leads to a second plane crash (of sorts), and, well, it’s not looking good for Boone. Theresa falls up the stairs, Theresa falls down the stairs.Oh, and Sawyer gets the best glasses ever.

You guys, we finally get to talk about the numbers that have been scattering themselves throughout the series! Joining us is special guest host Maggie as we break down Hurley’s bad luck, his complete lack of chill, Sawyer’s book choices, and we also discuss Naveen Andrews’ crazy life. It’s a fun one!

So here we are, getting Jin’s side of the story. We learn much more about what he actually does for Sun’s father – who is the worst – but do we feel any better about him? …Kind of, I guess. We really love his dad, though, and wish Jin were more like him. Meanwhile, someone sets Michael’s raft on fire and just about everyone thinks it was Jin since he and Michael had gotten into a fight earlier. But was it?? Oh, and everyone learns Sun can speak English.

On the twelfth day of Lostmas The Constant brought to you…12 shots with Christain Shepherd! And we learn that the con can be conned when Sawyer is tricked into doing Hibbs’ dirty work in Australia, which just goes to show you can’t trust a character played by Robert Patrick. There’s also some hilarity between Sawyer and a boar, and a revelatory game of “I Never”. On the eleventh day of Lostmas The Constant brought to you…eleven grams of scag! And Claire is back! She’s got amnesia, but at least she’s alive and the baby seems to be ok. Charlie, however, does some murdering, so that’s something we’ll have to deal with.

On the tenth day of Lostmas The Constant brought to you…a ten year old named Waaaaaaaaalt. Here we go with the yelling of Walt’s name! In this episode we learn just how awful Walt’s mother was to Michael, and why it’s been so very long since he’d seen his son. We also discuss the recent election, as we recorded this the day after to distract us from our utter despair over the results. But mostly we talk about how terrible Susan is and how terrible Michael (mostly) is not.
