In our current series, we are looking at the six key figures in the book of Genesis, the first book in the Bible. We’ve looked at Adam and Noah so far. A lot has happened since Noah. Today, Pastor Marc Sharp continues the story, talking about Abraham, who’s story spans all the way from Genesis chapter 11 through chapter 25. The message concludes with a time of reflection, meditation, and repentance.

Pastor David Walt continues the series started last week on the major characters from Genesis (1st book in the Bible), including Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. Today's message is about Noah and a very large boat, the "ark". You may have heard the story of Noah before, but Pastor David brings fresh insight to it and how it relates to Jesus and to us in today's world. Get in the boat!

In today's message, Pastor Marc Sharp begins a series on the major characters from Genesis (1st book in the Bible). This will include Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. You will hear that God had a plan from the very beginning, and that God always finishes what he starts. You will also see Jesus in their lives, because he is the point of their stories. The book of Genesis is the book of beginnings. In it we find the story of creation and God's determination to have a people for himself, beginning with Adam and Eve.

In the last few weeks, we’ve talked about the necessity of formally entering into a covenant of partnership with a local church. This is not unlike marriage in the sense that it is a public affirmation of commitment and mutual submission to one another for the benefit of our discipleship and the reputation of Christ. We’ve been looking at the ways God has chosen to govern the church. We talked about Jesus as the head of the church, as well as the offices of elders and deacons. Pastor Marc Sharp now moves on from who God chooses for governing to how governance is to proceed. How does God keep the church in order?

In previous messages Pastor Marc Sharp talked about how God has ordered the church, that Christ is the sovereign head, and that he also works through the agency of eldership. In today's message he discusses another set of agents vital to the proper functioning of the Church of Jesus Christ - Deacons.

Last week we saw that Jesus is the Head of his Body, the Church, and that there is no one who is inherently “qualified” or “called” to replace him or speak in his stead. In today's message, Pastor Marc Sharp turns our attention on one group of human agents that Jesus has given to the church in order to lead and provide care - the Elders.

Because of Christ’s perfect obedience, and his unending status as the priestly mediator between God and his church, God has also appointed Christ to be the Head of the Church. This settles forever the question of who really is “in charge” of the church. But, if this is true, how does it work functionally? How does the unseen Christ rule the church in actual practice? Today, Pastor Marc Sharp explores how we as a body recognize Christ as the real head of the church in a world that does not.
