  • No I'm Not Done Feeling Sorry For Myself

    21/02/2007

Sometimes wallowing in remorse is fun, but hunger can get in the way.

  • Our Trip To Mardi Gras

    20/02/2007

This one is based on a real trip to Mardi Gras...allegedly.

  • Charlene

    19/02/2007

As a songwriting exercise, John Lisiecki occasionally only allows himself an hour to come up with a song. This one came out of one of those sessions.

  • GeekSpeak Street

    17/02/2007

Written for BoardGameGeek's GeekSpeak podcast. This one was written for the "Rejected GeekSpeak Theme Songs" segment that aired on a variety of GeekSpeaks. Unfortunately, the show had to change it's name from GeekSpeak to "BoardGameSpeak" for a variety of reasons and this song never aired. That is, until Beatnik Turtle did a half-hour "Tribute To GeekSpeak" podcast after Derk and Aldie announced the show was ending.

  • Looks Like We're In Bed Together

    16/02/2007

Unlikely allies say the strangest things.

  • My Love Is The Same

    15/02/2007

We had to go to our closets and get out our spandex to record this song right.

  • The Honest Love Song

    14/02/2007

Why are there so few honest love songs?

  • You're My Everything (And More)

    13/02/2007

This is the expanded version of a song written for Matt's Sci-Fry sketch comedy show at Second City.

  • Mr Right Now

    12/02/2007

This is a paired song, as we have a Mrs. Right Now that will be played on another day!

  • A Synthesis Of Logic

    11/02/2007

This was song dates back to 1989 when Tom wrote it for a composition class. He dusted off the tape, digitized it, added new stuff, and shined it all up for The Song Of The Day.

  • Throwaway Song

    10/02/2007

This is just a throwaway song.

  • Hot Lava Death

    09/02/2007

"Hot Lava Death," said the guy from Hasbro. This was quite a memorable moment in the history of the now-defunct GeekSpeak/BoardGameSpeak podcast. When we made a tribute podcast in memory of Derk and Aldie's show, we created this song using bits of the podcast interview with the guys.

  • Have To Go Without Me

    08/02/2007

This one was created when Ted emailed for directions to the studio. Being Ted, instead of just asking for directions, he wrote them in lyric form. Once Ted made it to the studio that day, Jason and he set the email lyrics to music. But not just any music - they wanted to write the "the strangest, weirdest music ever." Once they got done, they realized all they did was write a lost Flaming Lips tune that could have fell off The Soft Bulletin. Matt, who was working the mixing board and who had never heard of the Flaming Lips (!), kept asking Jason if he "really wanted to sing it that way."

  • Ants

    07/02/2007

To this day, when Ted says "Hi, my name is Ted," he has to bite his tongue to keep himself from saying, "...and this is my song about ants."

  • I Got A Reason To Cry

    06/02/2007

Our friend Holmes! came into the studio with this gem. He laid down the initial scratch guitar, sang, and left. Tom took up the challenge of overseeing the development of it and within a few weeks, built up the guitar parts, got John to play drums, and Tom to add bass.

  • (I Can't Really Say Why) I Like To See You Cry

    05/02/2007

The title and melody line of this song came from Jason's archives. Back in the 90s, while counting off to record an entirely different song, he made up and sang this line. Years later Randy and Jason heard it, thought it was a good start, and developed it into this more complete song.

  • Father Pedophile

    04/02/2007

Making the altar boy an altar man. All allegations in this song are vehemently denied.

  • It's Nice To Be Needed

    03/02/2007

It's nice to be needed some time. But not ALL of the time.

  • Smarter n Better n You

    02/02/2007

It's a sad fact that people are smarter n better n you. Well, except those who don't understand satire. Yee-haw!
