Following the announcement that Sakurai and his team are releasing more DLC characters for Smash Ultimate in 2020, everyone out there has been speculating who they think the next additions will be. We could certainly do that for you, but it takes a much bolder team of content creators to instead tell you who they think will NOT be the next DLC characters in Smash Ultimate. And God help us if they make fighters out of Longhorn from 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker, Bad Mr Frosty from ClayFighter, and Gooigi, an obvious pervert. During this year's Portland Retro Gaming Expo, we polled the crowd with a very important question: Which classic arcade game deserves a gritty modern-day RPG? Five Nights at Freddy's. The Internet sensation that started as a simple game about creepy mascots and jump scares has spawned no less than 8 games, 3 novels, and an infinite amount of YouTube videos conjecturing its very complicated story. There are a lot of people out there digging through the games' code and trying to tie together every piece of dialog and bring meaning to every (seemingly) meaningless mini-game. Fortunately, Matt is one of those crazy people and our gift from him to you this Halloween season is to shove all this conjecture and supposition into your brain, much like one would forcibly shove a smelly night janitor into the rusted exoskeleton of an off-brand pizza mascot to acquire that sweet, sweet soul goo that lives inside all of us. Before Nic Cage donned the flaming skull of Ghost Rider, the Spirit of Vengeance has inhabited many bodies, dating all the way back to the Stone Age. Since we didn't want the goofiest iteration of Ghost Rider to be a boy on a wooly mammoth, we decided to mash this universe together with Mario Kart to bring you some flaming skulls with your red shells and your banana peels. Metal Gear Solid is a very silly game.
