This months episode focuses on poetry, an ancient art form Somalis are well known for. Fatima Hagi has an intimate, candid conversation with award-winning poet Ifrah Hussein, getting a closer look at how Ifrah became a poet, what inspires her and the journey it took to cultivate such honest, captivating and beautifully crafted poetry. Ifrah recently published her debut poetry anthology titled An Anthology of Grief: Or The Ways a Somali Woman Loves, and in this episode, we delve deeper into some of the themes presented in the book. Zara was accused of culturally appropriating the Somali baati or dirac sheed and we unpack whether this is good or bad for the Somali dhaqan?
