The Doctor-to-Doctor Radio Series continues today, November 5,  with a powerful medical doctor and health advocate that everyone will enjoy listening to and learning from. Tonight Dr. Dean will be talking with Dr. Jason Fung. Dr. Fung grew up in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and went to the University of Toronto at age 17 to begin studies in Biochemistry. By 23, Dr. Fung completed medical school at the U of T and began his Internal Medicine residency there. Finishing his specialty of Internal Medicine, Dr. Fung chose Nephrology (kidney disease) as his sub-specialty. Dr. Fung started his career in Nephrology in Toronto where he still has both an office and hospital practice. Type 2 diabetes is by far and away the leading cause of kidney disease, and Dr. Fung treats many hundreds of patients with this disease. Many of his patients also suffer from obesity. By the early 2010s Dr. Fung\'s interest in nutrition, combined with his professional focus on obesity and Type 2 diabetes had led him directly to the diabes

Adrenaline is like an unstable accelerant that gets you all revved up with no place to go! It’s not just a theory that stress causes magnesium deficiency and a lack of magnesium magnifies stress. Experiments, where adrenaline is given intravenously, show that it decreases magnesium as well as calcium, potassium, and sodium. This proves that when you are in a revved-up state and burning adrenaline, you are also burning off magnesium. There are more than a dozen major metabolic processes that are affected by bursts of adrenaline, including heart rate, blood pressure, blood vessel constriction, and contraction of all muscles, including the heart. Each of these functions requires magnesium to bring them back into balance. When the adrenals are stimulated to release adrenaline on a constant basis, due to long-term stress, they can become depleted and the release of adrenaline can become erratic. Some alternative medicine practitioners call this adrenal fatigue. However, according to allopathic medicine, the

Have you or someone you love been advised to avoid iodine supplementation? Allopathetic doctors are most likely to make this recommendation followed by naturopathic doctors that don’t understand the role of iodine in the body. The typical mistake with iodine supplementation is the shallow understanding that its only role is as a substrate for the formation of thyroid hormone. Not so. Every cell in the body needs iodine: Iodine is required to prevent an attack from the sea of microbes they are surrounded by. Our bodies are saturated by 10 times more germs than human cells and iodine functions like chlorine in a pool keeping germs at bay. For example, white blood cells cannot effectively guard against infection without adequate amounts of iodine. Iodine is responsible for the formation of the normal architecture of the glandular tissue, e.g. breast, thyroid, ovary, & prostate, Iodine is utilized in the management of insulin and is effective in lowering blood sugar. Last year, Dr. Carolyn Dean launched the Total Body ReSet as a workable plan to provide the nutritional support individuals need to balance their body and experience optimal health. Among the thousands of testimonials we’ve received for every type of condition or malady one of the most fun and inspiring has been Rodger J.’s story of weight loss – 140 pounds in a little over a year! By starting with the Total Body ReSet, Rodger was able to gain control of his metabolism, his cravings, and his overall health, vitality and well-being! When I wrote to Rodger and asked him how it all came together for him, this is what he wrote me: Hi Ginney, here’s how I did it -  I take two teaspoons Re-Mag, one teaspoon Re-Myte, ReAline and sea salt in my drinking water daily. I also take 1/2 teaspoon No-Salt daily to help keep my electrolytes up. I take the Pico-Silver one teaspoon daily one week on, one week off. I started out using ReStructure as a meal substitute but since I am doing just one meal a day with no

Did you know your body requires magnesium for proper detoxification of your cells? Magnesium is a foundational nutrient on which detoxification systems depend for their function.  Without proper magnesium levels in the body, natural minerals like calcium can accumulate within your cells because magnesium deficiency causes cells to lose the ability to maintain normal mineral concentrations and exhibit toxic effects. The health of detoxification systems also is critical because exposure to environmental contaminants, synthetic chemicals, and pollution is a reality in our industrial world. Magnesium is one of the best weapons in your arsenal against chemical toxicity! Just how does magnesium support detox? First and foremost, magnesium’s major role in the production of energy (as ATP) puts magnesium at the top of the list when it comes to detox! After all, ATP provides your cells with the energy they require for pumping out toxins before, during, and after they accumulate. It’s true! High levels of e

You’ve probably heard that eating more vegetables and less meat is healthy. Maybe you’re even feeling inspired to try eating a vegan diet—which excludes all animal products, including dairy and eggs—to improve your health or lose a little weight, even with the intent of preventing animal exploitation. I’ve talked to many clients and customers who embrace raw foods, green smoothies, vegan diets for cancer, and paleo diets who have obvious magnesium deficiency symptoms – migraines, leg cramps, and heart palpitations. Yet they’ve been told that a particular diet will take care of all their problems. And many have been told that a vegan or vegetarian diet is the healthiest diet of all. Truth is: we really don’t have a good analysis of who is healthier and who is not – the meat eaters or the vegetarians or the vegans. And even if we did  – science and statistics can’t tell you how your individual body will react to foods. Neither can a health enthusiast tell you what to eat (even though they may think they have

Increasing magnesium intake may be a valid strategy to enhance cognitive abilities. This comes on the heels of much research and speculation that inadequate levels of magnesium could impair cognitive function, leading to faster deterioration of memory in aging humans. In fact, because of how magnesium deficiency affects the brain, world-renown magnesium expert  Dr. Carolyn Dean thoroughly researched and provided over 600 medical and scientific references in her newest edition of The Magnesium Miracle 2017 Edition, many of which refer directly to the function of the central nervous system! The following excerpts citing magnesium\\\'s role in the brain function and cognition is taken from The Magnesium Miracle, 2017 Edition: * Stroke: The U.S. population, deficient in magnesium, is at greater risk for stroke with severe post-stroke complications. There can be poor recovery from head injury and escalating neurological damage. Lack of magnesium can enhance neurotoxin damage from vast numbers of chemicals

Everyone knows that exercise is good for them but is it possible to get too much of a good thing? While exercise provides many health benefits, at some point working out too hard or too long can increase the risk of magnesium and mineral depletion engendering a whole slew of health complications. In fact, intense exercise like training for marathons or endurance could be an admirable endeavor or it could put you on the sidelines. Consider Len’s recent correspondence with our Customer Service team: I happened to receive a copy of the book “The Magnesium Miracle” about a week ago and upon reading it was very, very impressed.   I have ordered my first bottle of ReMag.  I am 81 years of age and kept very fit all my life by running 100 kms every week up and down the mountains where I live.   In my 50’s I started running marathons (always in less than three hours) but in my 60’s I was forced to start bike riding because my knees had worn out.   In my 70’s I engaged in four quite challenging bike rides for

Magnesium’s role in preventing heart disease and strokes is accepted yet cardiologists have not gotten up to speed with its use. Magnesium was first shown to be of value in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias in 1935 and since then there have been numerous double-blind studies showing magnesium to be of benefit for many types of arrhythmias including atrial fibrillation, ventricular premature contractions, ventricular tachycardia, and severe ventricular arrhythmias. Magnesium supplementation has also been shown to be helpful in angina due either to a spasm of the coronary artery or atherosclerosis. And yet cardiologists still do not use it to a meaningful degree in their protocols. While doctors lag behind modern understanding,  in 2017 cardiovascular researchers James J DiNicolantonio, James H O’Keefe, and William Wilson have updated the cardiac community with their research demonstrating, once again, the correlation between magnesium deficiency and heart disease.
