Krisztina ‘Z’ Holly seems to have done it all when it comes to tech, manufacturing, and adventuring. Though she goes by many titles – innovator, engineer, advisor, podcast host – her experiences and ability to help others utilize their “undiscovered talent” to make an impact are what really set her apart. While Z’s accomplishments include creating the first TEDx events, founding innovation centers at both MIT and USC, and working with multiple successful tech startups (and that’s just scratching the surface), she’s currently putting her energy into her maker-focused podcast “The Art of Manufacturing” and her role as the “Chief Instigator” for MAKE IT IN LA, Mayor Garcetti's non-profit initiative aimed at growing the manufacturing ecosystem in the Los Angeles region. Craft beer & cocktails are a relatively new thing for the country of Croatia. Only recently did Croatia start experiencing a craft beverage boom, and U.S. expat & cocktailer Tristan Delahunt is one of the individuals responsible for bringing these drinks to light. Tristan is the co-owner of Caffe Bar Sanctuary, the first craft cocktail bar in Split, Croatia. As a brewery, Standard Deviant is veering away a bit from the trends that are characteristics of most West Coast breweries. Instead of brewing the most aggressively-hopped IPAs, these guys are focusing on traditional German styles like Kolsch and Altbier, while producing a fine lineup of single-hop pale ales as well. I’M ON A BOAT! That’s right, this episode DOES NOT take place in a bar or brewery, but rather aboard a sailing yacht in the middle of the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Croatia. This special edition of Pubcast Worldwide is all about The Yacht Week, and the crazy skippers, hostesses, and international party animals that make this week-long sailing event one of the biggest ragers on the planet!  On my recent holiday in Europe, I was lucky enough to have Brad Dupen as the skipper for our boat. Originally from South Africa, Brad has sailed and worked everywhere from the Bahamas to the coasts of England, and we decided his story was just too good to pass up for a Pubcast episode. Do you have a hostel named after yourself? Didn’t think so. But Chad Fish does! And that’s why he’s on the show!  Chad is the owner of Hostel Fish, a place described as “a classy joint for travelers in downtown Denver.” Built in a former brothel that’s walking distance from some of Denver’s best nightlife, Hostel Fish not only has a ton of character, but it’s changing the game for hostels in the U.S. I met up with Chad the day after they threw their 2-year anniversary party, resulting in the first ever “Hangover Edition” of the Pubcast. Throughout our Bloody Mary-fueled conversation, Chad gives a crash-course in hostelling in North America, the Denver food & drink scene, and of course how marijuana legalization is impacting travel and tourism in Colorado. For an episode with such a diverse set of topics, Chad also brings his own wild stories of travel, entrepreneurship, and hostel life that are sure to cure any hangover.

Broken Bat Brewery is a newcomer to the scene, and their baseball-themed brewery is already a home run within Milwaukee’s exploding craft beer scene.  In this edition of “Flight School,” Broken Bat Co-Founder Tim Pauly joins the Pubcast to take us through a flight of 4 summertime brews, while giving us a rundown of the origins of their brewery and the state of the Milwaukee beer scene, with plenty of baseball chatter mixed in. Mike Goncalves knows a thing or two about fitness, business, and – oh yeah! – Portuguese wine! Mike is a long-time health & wellness expert, and he recently founded Entrepreneur Fitness Academy – a 30-day online experience designed to help entrepreneurs create daily health habits that are quick, easy to follow, and last.  We met up at Deschutes Brewery in Portland, OR during the 2017 World Domination Summit (more on that in the show…) and chatted over a couple pints about the role of fitness in pushing yourself to achieve your goals in business, relationships, and all facets of life. But after enough talk about exercise, we enter the “Tipsy Talk” where we got to know Mike a bit better over a couple of drinking stories and talk of wine ranging from Portugal to Massachusetts to Oregon.

San Diego, California: commonly known as one of the best craft beer destinations on the planet. This was the Pubcast’s first trip to “America’s Finest City,” and it certainly won’t be the last! In the episode, Kristine Baker – the creator and chief organizer of the Women’s Craft Beer Collective – hosted us at Culture Brewing’s Solana Beach location (just 25 minutes north of San Diego), where she gave us a rundown of the region’s craft beer scene, and the strong role that women are taking in craft brewing. We covered everything from wet-hopping to the Great American Beer Festival to macramé, and drank some of Culture’s award-winning beer in the process. Conducting the interview while sitting atop kegs and the rest of the equipment in the brewhouse was certainly a unique setting for an otherwise picturesque SoCal beachside interview.

Caitlin Landesberg has always identified as an athlete. Now, as the Founder, CEO, and Brewmaster at Sufferfest Beer Company, she’s just as much of a rockstar brewer as she is a runner. Sufferfest is a San Francisco-based beer company for athletes, by athletes, providing a gluten-removed beer that all can enjoy at the end of a workout or adventure. When Caitlin found out that she was gluten intolerant and eliminated it from her diet, post-race beers were also eliminated as well. Realizing that there were few good gluten-free beers on the market, Caitlin made her own, and Sufferfest Beer Company was soon born. In this episode, Caitlin and Chris sample all 3 of Sufferfest’s brews while discussing the origins of the company, the importance of a post-adventure beer, and of course some drinking stories from Caitlin, all of which seem to involve running. Sessions is the destination for today’s show, a craft beer and craft food oasis in the middle of San Francisco’s forested Presidio.

Houston, Texas is the most diverse city in the United States, and in this episode with 8th Wonder Brewery, we had our most diverse flight of beers. Coincidence? Ryan Soroka – President, Hype Man, “Entrebrewneur,” & Co-Founder at 8th Wonder – takes us through 9 different brews that all pay homage to Houston’s vibrant cultural heritage. Expand your mind beyond NASA and cowboys, and get ready for an episode covering Cajun crawfish boils, low-rider car culture, Chinatown, Houston sports, and Vietnamese coffee, just to name a few. We even learn about Ryan’s career and entry into the Houston food & beverage arena that led up to the brewery and associated food truck (Eatsie Boys). Oh, and BBQ…you can’t go to Houston and not talk about BBQ!

It’s been awhile since we’ve done an episode of “Flight School,” and there was no better place to start that up again than at Texas Ale Project in Dallas, TX. As you might know, Texas is HOT, and the beers that Texas Ale Project is brewing are the perfect answer to the Texas heat. With plenty of German-influenced beers or just a good brew with a clean finish, this flavorful flight made for a great reintroduction to Texas beer. In this episode, we had the pleasure of sitting down with Derrick “Moose” Rima, the Lead Brewer at Texas Ale Project, and quite frankly just a great guy to have a drink with. Moose first discovered his love for beer while serving in the military over in Germany. His stories give us an understanding of the Dallas craft beer community, and some of his own unconventional methods of staying hydrated while drinking.

Yoga paired with beer seems like an odd combination…until you listen to this episode! Lori Thomas & Pat Santos are the founders of Downward Drinking Dog, a San Jose-based event series that throws yoga parties at breweries and craft beverage venues around the Bay Area. Have you ever wondered what beer pairs best with a plank, handstand, or any other yoga pose? Well, after this episode, you won’t have to, because Lori & Pat have the answers! We met up at Hapa’s Brewing Company in San Jose for our first ever South Bay episode, where this newcomer to the Bay Area beer scene just opened up shop in 2017. With a lineup of beers that are straight forward yet creative – and a brewery with plenty of space for yoga mats – you’ll want to pay these guys a visit.

Nathaniel Boyle is all-things travel. He is the founder of the online creative travel community Holocene, the host of “The Travelers” podcast, and named by the White House as one of the Top 100 Influencers in travel. Now that I’ve said “travel” enough, let’s talk beer! In this episode, Nathaniel stopped through San Francisco on his recent Transformative Travel Tour, and as a fellow beer enthusiast, we met up at San Francisco’s Cellarmaker Brewing for a sampling of West Coast IPA’s. Amidst the brews, we chatted about this newfound concept of “transformative travel,” his drinking stories from around the globe, baseball, and the creative and culture impact of brewing and sharing a good craft beer.

Jackie Nourse – better known as Traveling Jackie – is a woman-of-all-trades in the budget travel arena. Through her website and podcast “The Budget-Minded Traveler,” she is on a mission to inspire Americans to travel sooner rather than later. She is a wealth of information when it comes to taking the leap to travel abroad, and as a global craft beer seeker, she has seen more than her fair share of great brews throughout her own journeys as well. A new resident to Boulder, CO, Jackie took us to Upslope Brewing Company for this episode where we plowed through a flight as we discussed beer, travel, beer mixed with travel, and plenty of other best practices from booking accommodations to the only proper technique for shotgunning a beer…

Consider this somewhat of a bonus episode, thirsty listeners, because this one gets silly…but, it still packs a great message about travel and pursuing what moves you!  Full-disclosure: Casey Lembke and Ryan Drysdale are 2 of my good friends from college, so you can expect where that would lead our discussions…8 years ago, Ryan, Casey, and I dressed up as pirates and partied on boats in Lake Michigan. Now, we just drink at breweries in Denver. But in those 8 years, we’ve each covered a lot of ground. Casey has been a remote worker living in D.C., New Orleans, and Paris, while Ryan has spent time in Thailand, both U.S. coasts, and Chile; now, both call Denver home. Once we make our way through the inside jokes of years past, Ryan and Casey share their respective stories of traveling the world, working remotely, trying out a number of different roles while still building a career, and living an unconventional but fulfilling lifestyle. We visited LowDown Brewery + Kitchen in Denver’s Capital Hill neighborhood fo
