Tonight  Dr. Dean will be talking with Dr. Christiane Northrup, a visionary pioneer and a leading authority in the field of women’s health and wellness, which includes the unity of mind, body, emotions, and spirit. Internationally known for her empowering approach to women’s health and wellness, Dr. Northrup teaches women how to thrive at every stage of life. What is wonderful about Dr. Northrup is that she is so similar to our own Dr. Dean, meaning clearly she “walks her talk.”  Dr. Northrup put her own personal truth on paper in 1994, with the first edition of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom.  This groundbreaking classic quickly became a New York Times bestseller and has been the veritable bible of women’s health for nearly two decades. In addition to providing relevant, information and timeless medical information Dr. Northrup is also focused on the emotional aspects of health and wellness. Our emotions and thoughts are always accompanied by biochemical reactions in our bodies, which create our states

Twenty-five million Americans suffer from migraines. Statistically, more women experience migraines than men, especially in the twenty-to-fifty-year-old age group. The following biochemical events involving low magnesium have been identified in migraine sufferers and may set the stage for a migraine attack: In women who have not yet reached menopause, estrogen rises before the period, causing a shift of blood magnesium into bone and muscle. As a result, magnesium levels in the brain are lowered. When magnesium is low, it is unable to do its job to counteract the clotting action of calcium in the blood. Tiny blood clots are said to clog up brain blood vessels, leading to migraines. Several other substances that help create blood clots are increased when magnesium is too low. Similarly, magnesium inhibits excess platelet aggregation, preventing the formation of tiny clots that can block blood vessels and cause pain. Low brain magnesium promotes neurotransmitter hyperactivity and nerve excitation that can

We take sleep for granted—until we start losing it! If you are experiencing the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep you may have insomnia. Because different people need different amounts of sleep, insomnia is defined by the quality of your sleep and how you feel after sleeping—not the number of hours you sleep or how quickly you doze off. Even if you’re spending eight hours a night in bed, if you feel drowsy and fatigued during the day, you may be experiencing insomnia. There are countless causes of insomnia and many of them are either due to a magnesium deficiency or treatable with a highly absorbed magnesium supplement. Insomnia is actually one of the first symptoms to be alleviated with magnesium therapy and even people who sleep well report deeper, more satisfying sleep when they are saturating their body with magnesium. There is a saying in magnesium circles that the mineral is so effective that if a person complains that magnesium isn’t helping them sleep, then they just haven’t taken enough.

Magnesium plays many important roles in the structure and the function of the human body. The adult human body contains about 25 grams of magnesium. Over 60% of all the magnesium in the body is found in the skeleton, about 27% is found in muscle, 6% to 7% is found in other cells, and less than 1% is found outside of cells. WOW – why does the body require so much darned magnesium? Well, it turns out that magnesium is not only producing necessary enzymes and working in the mitochondria to make ATP but magnesium is also necessary for protein synthesis at the ribosomal level. The ribosomes are the cellular organelles where proteins are synthesized. Magnesium “activates” the amino acids involved and allows the mRNA to attach to the ribosomes. Magnesium is also found in the nucleus of the cell and is essential for the stability of the nucleic acids RNA and DNA. If DNA and RNA structure do not remain stable you may have mutations in the codes and produce incorrect peptides are none at all during protein synthesis

Saul says, \"Medical doctors ignore vitamin research, claiming it isn\'t science. They also typically ignore case histories, saying it isn\'t research. So why not take the information directly to the people, and let them decide for themselves?\" As a pioneer and

According to a March 30, 2017 press release by the WHO, depression is the leading cause of ill health and disability worldwide with more than 300 million people living with depression. This is an increase of more than 18% between 2005 and 2015. Trauma, grief, financial troubles, unemployment, SAD, smoking, thyroid disease, poor sleep habits, Facebook/Instagram overload, the end of a TV series or movie, urban environments, too many choices, lack of omega-3 fatty acids, BCP, anxiety and insomnia drugs, including Valium and Xanax; Lopressor, for high blood pressure; cholesterol-lowering drugs including Lipitor; and Premarin for menopausal symptoms are all cited as possible causes of depression. Wow. Fortunately, there is such a simple, elegant solution for many who suffer from depression! A breakthrough nutritional study conducted at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont and published in PLoS ONE has found that just 248mg of magnesium per day leads to an astounding reversal of depr

Did you know that there are approximately seventeen nutrients essential for healthy bones, including magnesium, the most important mineral, along with calcium? Susan Brown, Ph.D., director of the Osteoporosis Education Project in Syracuse, New York, warns that “the use of calcium supplementation in the face of magnesium deficiency can lead to a deposition of calcium in the soft tissue such as the joints, promoting arthritis, or in the kidney, contributing to kidney stones.”1 Dr. Brown recommends a daily dose of 450 mg of magnesium for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Women with osteoporosis have lower-than-average levels of magnesium in their diets, according to survey reports. Magnesium deficiency can compromise calcium metabolism and also hinder the body’s production of vitamin D, further weakening bones. In the 2017 Edition of The Magnesium Miracle, Dr. Carolyn Dean outlines magnesium’s multi-factoral role in the structure and function of healthy bones: Adequate levels of magnesium ar

Millions of people are suffering—trying all kinds of diets, pills, and treatments to clear their mental fog, to boost energy and lose weight. Unfortunately, there is little success to be had until the thyroid and adrenals are restored at a cellular level. Folks with thyroid and adrenal fatigue may suffer all these associated symptoms but it’s not necessarily because of thyroid disease, itself. From Dr. Dean’s 50 years of study and experience, the cause of many issues within the endocrine system can be taken down to their true root causes: mineral deficiency and yeast overgrowth. AND…when the thyroid is low, the adrenals are not far behind and vice versa! The three major hormone systems: adrenals, thyroid and sex hormones are like a three-legged stool. When one of the legs of the stool is shortened, it affects the other two. This can be seen in blood testing; when cortisol levels go up, thyroid hormone levels go down. There is an ongoing debate among natural medicine practitioners about what comes fir

As we usher in the month of March, the tides turn from winter to spring and many people start thinking about their health in terms of body cosmetics and appearance - getting back outside and heading for the beach. Like many people, you may want to know is the best diet for humans? Many of us actually have an opinion about this question - some people are of the opinion that a vegan diet is the best anti-inflammatory diet, or that a ketogenic diet of healthy fats and carbs sourced from plants is perfect for diabetics, or that a vegetarian diet may be the noblest of them all. Others have opinions about sugars, egg, dairy, etc and
