It's 2023! Good god. And Kelsey and Jenn are back with a meta murder mystery that is maybe too smart for it's own good. 2022's See How They Run is up for discussion, starring Saoirse Ronan, Sam Rockwell, Adrian Brody, Ruth Wilson, and everyone's favorite British actress, Shirley Henderson. And it's...okay? It's definitely not as good as Glass Onion, which is not a period drama but is certainly something that you should not watch right before watching See How They Run. Which is what both Jenn and Kelsey did and now have been spoiled with something fantastic right before something mediocre. Bah. 

Welcome back to another episode of Eyre on Air: The Texas Edition, where everything is Dolly Parton and nothing matters! This week, we acidentally did 1982's musical adaptation of The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, starring Burt Reynolds and Dolly Parton. And friends, these hoes can really hoedown! It's an 80's country musical about minding your damn business and staying in your lane. So let's all just sit back and enjoy Dolly's many magnificent costume changes.

And by that we mean we've done an actual movie that was marketed as a period drama that deals with an actual, historical period of time that was very dramatic etc etc. Anyway. We're discussing the 2018 film Mary Queen of Scots, starring Margot Robbie, Saoirse Ronan, Gemma Chan, Guy Pearce, and David Tennant as the literal worst man ever. And we were surprised by how much we liked this one! Enjoy!

Bitch, as. if.  So this week Joe, Jenn, and Kelsey discuss the first couple episodes of Bridgerton season 2, produced by Shonda Rhimes, based on the Julia Quinn novels, and starring Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, and a million others. And if we each manage to finish the season without wanting to strangle every single Bridgerton, we'll all be very surprised.  

Was this episode so frustrating to record that we got started an hour late? Yes. Was it worth it? Also yes, but only if you are asking Kelsey and Jenn. Is Robin Hood- Prince of Thieves Alan Rickman's best movie? Again, probably yes. Give the episode a listen and then better yet, go watch the movie. We promise it's worth it.

It's 2022 and Eyre on Air is ready to kick off season four! And in classic Eyre on Air fashion, we have chosen something that most people would probably consider an "action" film. But those people are sad and have no sense of adventure. So to get us started we're discussing 1999's The Mummy, starring the internet's 90s boyfriend, Brendan Fraser, and the hottest librarian on the face of the Earth, Rachel Weisz. As well as John Hannah, Arnold Vosloo, and Oded Fehr. Welcome back y'all! 

In order to break the curse brought on by Jenn in 2019's Muppet Christmas Carol episode, Joe, Jenn and Kelsey dive back in to the world of Charles Dickens and Jim Henson once again. And also recast ever movie they have ever seen with muppets. 

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a Tilda Swinton in a gender-swapping, time-traveling period drama must be in want of nothing. Not even a wife.  This week Eyre on Air is discussing Sally Potter's 1992 art house period film Orlando, based on the Virginia Wolfe novel of the same name. It stars Tilda Swinton as Orlando, Orlando, and Lady Orlando. And some other people and pre-Titanic Billy Zane.  Happy listening!
