Scarlet Velocity: A Flash Podcast

San Diego Comic Con has come and gone, but the Flash news was flowing freely! Jay and Josh return to our next summer special as we discuss what was revealed during the big event. "Flashpoint" will have some major implications for our heroes, both old and new. We give our thoughts on the Kid Flash uniform, and speculate about the new "big bads", Dr. Alchemy and a mysterious evil speedster. It's time to put on the Flash uniform. But wear the one with shorts and the tinted goggles, because it's summertime. Jay and Josh are back for the first summer special of the year. This month we talk about casting announcements for season 3, speculate about characters, and share news about the season 2 Blu-Ray coming out later this year. Plus, we look ahead to Comic Con and discuss the implications of the upcoming "Flashpoint" storyline for next season. Barry runs in "The Race of His Life" against Zoom. After Zolomon kills Henry, Barry is so distraught that he wants to kill Zoom. Unfortunately for that plan, Barry is too much of a hero to go through with it. So Zoom does it himself with his handy, dandy time remnant. Now Zoom has challenged Barry to a race that will destroy the multiverse if Flash loses. The team thinks that's a bad idea, so they lock Barry up and try to stop Zoom themselves. It would have worked, but Joe is abducted to Zoom's Earth 2 lair. Wally lets Barry out to race. Barry has a trick ready though, and he manages to stop Zoom with the help of some dark allies. It's hard to worry too much when you feel "Invincible". Barry is feeling pretty good about himself after his trip to the Speed Force, but his friends think he's acting a little too confident. Even though The Flash is doing a great job taking down Zoom's Earth 2 Metahumans, even the deadly and destructive Black Siren, you never know when Zoom will pull something deadly out of his pocket. When I was little, my mom used to read me "The Runaway Dinosaur", just like Barry was reminded of, when he woke up and realized he was trapped in the speed force. It's manifesting itself to look like his closest family members and makes him face some of his deepest emotions. Meanwhile, the rest of the team takes care of Jesse, whose heart stopped when the particle accelerator wave hit her and Wally. But she's not waking up. Someone who that darn wave did awaken was the corpse of Girder, who still just wants to hang with Iris. Plus, Cisco and Wells try to find someway to contact Barry and get him back. There has been a "Rupture" in Central City. It's probably not something Barry and Cisco are going to be able to take care of with a drone-controlled hologram though. This Rupture is from Earth 2 and looks just like Dante Ramon, Cisco's brother. He's one of many expected Metahumans that Zoom has brought here to wreak havoc, because Zoom has now claimed control of Central City. Barry has to make a final decision whether or not to let Wells recreate the particle accelerator explosion. But even his dad Henry may not be able to guide him on this one. Because Zoom seems unstoppable, Barry decides the risks are worth the rewards if he can get his speed back. Unless, of course...it doesn't work. Now that Flash has lost his speed, his life can go "Back to Normal", right? Well, as normal as Central City gets, I suppose. Caitlin is being held by Zoom, right next to Killer Frost and the Man in the Iron Mask. Hopefully, if she and Frost work together they can escape. Back on Earth 1, a much slower Barry has to stop Griffin Grey; a metahuman with super strength, but with the side-effect of extremely rapid aging, before he kills Harry Wells. It's The Flash "Versus Zoom" this week as we learn of the tragic origins of Hunter Zolomon as he walked the path through his tragic life, only to take the road of evil and become the feared speedster he is today. Barry has now become faster than ever and he wants a reluctant Cisco to open a breach so he can stop Zoom once and for all. Even though it appears to be working, Zoom finds a way to escape and kidnap Wally. Now The Flash will have to give up his speed to save him, and hope that there will still be a way to lock up the darkness. Last Tuesday night, we're sending "Flash Back" to the future! …a few hours after he travels into the past one year. He goes there to try to get any information he can about becoming fast enough to stop Zoom, and his plan is to get it from the past Eobard Thawne. Despite his best intentions, things go wrong from the beginning. And to make things worse, a Time Wraith has followed him because he's meddling with the past. Thawne sees right through Barry's ruse, and quickly overpowers him. But they'll have to work together to stop the Wraith and send Barry back. It's hard to follow the "Trajectory" of an object that is traveling as fast as the newest speedster in town. She's Eliza Harmon, a former friend of Caitlin's from Mercury Labs. And she's become hooked on Velocity 9 after she had helped Caitlin work on it to help Jay. Problem is, Central City thinks it's Barry doing the devious things she's up to. "King Shark" has returned! After escaping ARGUS, he's out to get the Flash. Luckily John Diggle and his wife Lyla have come to warn our hero. But Barry, along with the rest of the team, are taking their recent losses pretty hard. Barry feels very responsible and Caitlin is distraught after losing another love. The distraction of catching this aquatic menace helps a little, but they still want to find a way to get back to Earth 2 and stop Zoom. Cisco just hopes the stress won't turn Caitlin into Killer Frost. And Barry hopes Wally will start to like him a little. Barry and his friends are running out of time to "Escape from Earth-2"! And now that Barry is imprisoned by Zoom, they need the help of Earth-2 Barry Allen to track down Killer Frost so she can show them the way to Zoom's lair. Earth-1 is having its own set of problems with Geomancer destroying whatever he can to lure out the Flash. Luckily Jay and Caitlin have discovered the cure to his degenerative problem and he uses his speed to stop Geomancer and even has time to stabilize the speed cannon so our heroes can return home. "Welcome to Earth 2"! Such a warm welcome for our heroes as they travel through a breach to that, now infamous, alternate reality to finally put a stop to Zoom and save Harrison Wells' daughter Jesse. What they find is a smorgasbord of doppelgängers. Barry's is married to police Captain Iris West, while his father-in-law Joe sings in a night club. But his alternate friends look (and act) quite a bit different. What he knows as Team Flash on Earth 1 are terrorizing Central City as meta-humans on Earth 2. Plus, when Zoom discovers that Barry and his friends are there, things start getting sticky for everyone. When you're running in the "Fast Lane" eventually you're going to crash. That's what Iris keeps telling Wally about his street racing. But he doesn't want to admit that there's more to it than the thrill and the money. Barry, on the other hand, needs to go faster. That's because Dr. Wells has finally discovered a way to drain Flash's speed and give it to Zoom in return for his daughter. And when Barry can't stop the newest meta-human named Tar Pit, before Iris gets hurt, everyone is a bit on edge about this latest betrayal. Hide your tachyons when "The Reverse Flash Returns". Despite all logic, Eobard Thawne is back in Central City. But this is a younger villain that hasn't met Barry yet. That's hard for Barry to imagine, but not as hard to deal with as Patty leaving town. Especially since she has finally figured out his true identity. And Caitlin searches for Jay's double on this Earth to try to save his life. But first they better save Cisco. His life is in danger and he won't be safe until they send Thawne back to the future! There's so many things in Central City that are full of "Potential Energy". But the Turtle might be able to suck that energy right out of everything. Even though he's just a petty thief, he's got some serious issues that put Patty in danger. And the Flash's speed might not be enough to save her. But Cisco thinks Turtle's power might be the answer to stealing Zoom's speed, if they can catch him. The potential for energy in Barry's relationship with Patty is going to take a serious hit, when he misses his opportunities to tell her the truth. It's hard to catch the bad guys when you're "Running to Stand Still". After Mark Marden, the Weather Wizard, breaks the Trickster and Captain Cold out of prison, he plans to use their particular set of skills to kill the Flash. But Cold feels like he owes Barry a favor so he tips him off, which gives Barry a slight advantage to find them. Patty wants to get there first though and finally get justice for her father's death by killing Marden. Plus, Joe finds out about his son Wally, and Zoom blackmails Wells to steal the Flash's speed. Central City and Star City are lucky to have the "Legends of Today". Because they're going to need them when Vandal Savage arrives in town. He's hunting for Hawkman and Hawkgirl, who are really Carter Hall and Kendra Saunders. Yes, Cisco's girlfriend has been reincarnated for the last several hundred years and was an Egyptian Priestess. Knowing they need help, Barry goes to Green Arrow for help. Meanwhile Caitlin and Wells search for a drug that may make Barry go faster than ever, but Jay Garrick is not happy about it. Don't think you can use bananas to defend against "Gorilla Warfare". When Grodd is in town, you're gonna need a speedster. But Barry is healing from his brutal beating at the hands of Zoom last week. Not just the physical injuries, but the humiliation and sense of failure. The only person that can help him feel confident again is Henry Allen. But when Grodd takes control of Caitlin's mind, they realize that they don't have much time to stop the mopin' and start the runnin'. Exit all sense of safety, and "Enter Zoom"! Barry believes he can lure Zoom onto his Earth by using Linda Park, dressed as Dr. Light (even if she is really horrible at shooting cardboard cutouts.) Nothing's ever easy, so of course, they fail. Cisco is trying his best to "vibe" Dr. Wells in an effort to find out what's really going on, and discovers that Harry has a daughter, and she's being held by Zoom. But just when their guard has been let down, Zoom arrives and easily wreaks havoc on any hope they may have had. Barry is down for the count and our jaws are on the floor.
