  • 28 of 30: This is before during and after a 1 hour breath work session EP 159

    03/01/2022 Duration: 09min

Holy crap that was crazy. I’ve been planning on doing this 4 hour virtual workshop all week. When I started it around 9 o’clock I was on edge, annoyed, and not sure I was going to be able to finish it. Well, I did and on this episode I share before, during, and after what it was like going on a one hour Breathwork journey… and I’m grateful I did!. • 27 of 30: Surprisingly boring! EP 158

    02/01/2022 Duration: 08min

It’s the first day of the year and it seems so uneventful! I spent most of the day annoyed. The funny thing is, I did 2 meditations and both times I got a glimpse of total contentment… then thought to myself, man this feels boring, lol! Worrying, planning, and dreaming about what’s next feels so eventful. In ACA they talk about an addiction to chaos and that’s where they mean. Often, it’s not physical chaos, it’s the mental and emotional turmoil that many people experience as “normal”. Funny that. 31/12/2021 Duration: 02min

I feel like I’m ending the year strong, unintentionally. I’m grateful for 2021 but ready for it to be over. I’m looking forward to the next season, breathwork, yoga, a deeper knowing, and spiritual journey. I wish you the best in 2022! • 25 of 30: Schwartz not Schultz EP 156

    31/12/2021 Duration: 08min

On this episode, I talk about some realizations I had about helping Austin experience and expressed anger in a safe way without teaching him to stuff it down. And, I talk about a podcast with the founder of IFS Therapy whose name is Richard Schwartz, not Schultz, which I reference multiple times on the podcast. It’s a really good one. • 24 of 30: how many obstacles are you making up? And a bit on the amends process EP 155

    29/12/2021 Duration: 09min

I’ve been thinking a lot about how this gentleman described his dark room retreat journey. He said that as his visualizations were kicking in his mind would make up obstacles in the room. In other words, it was pitch black yet his mind would fill in the gaps of the room with walls and furniture and beams and things to walk around, even though they weren’t really there. He took that as a metaphor for how we create obstacles in our lives. I wonder how many obstacles and excuses I’m making up for why I can’t do something. Also on this episode, I talk a bit about the amends process. It’s important in a relationship to watch where we’re being codependent and manipulative and where we need to amend our behavior without blaming the other person. Let me know what you think. • 23 of 30: Finding Love in the Darkness EP 154

    29/12/2021 Duration: 05min

I’ve gone down the rabbit hole around darkness retreats. Aubrey Marcus has a video on YouTube called finding love in the darkness. He spends about two hours talking about his experience on a six day darkness retreat and a quarter later with the heroes journey. It’s a great interview and tons of insight. It’s interesting how many ancient practices are geared towards going within. But not just to look at the light in God but also in finding the darkness within us as well. • 22 of 30: I can’t believe it works EP 153

    28/12/2021 Duration: 10min

Most of the time, it’s not a matter of intellectually knowing something. For example, it doesn’t matter that I know it’s important to be grateful. If I can’t get into a state of gratitude, the knowledge is useless. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to consistently get into a state of gratitude and acceptance of where I am. I can intellectually fake it however feeling it for real for real, it’s been a min! It surprises me every time I do the daily breath work, nine times out of ten, I feel so comfortable in the moment. I don’t need anything external to make me feel OK. I don’t need to be busier, more successful, have more money, or get off my butt to be productive. I’m OK exactly where I am. That’s a good feeling and I wish I felt it more, lol! Do you have a practice that gets you into gratitude for real for real? Let me know what that is. • 21 of 30: No tree… can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell. EP 152

    26/12/2021 Duration: 11min

A quote by a guy I’ve known about but hadn’t heard of this one before, Carl Jung, “No tree… can reach the heavens unless its roots reach down to hell.” It’s based on this idea that most people, myself included, want the good without the bad, want the light without the dark, want the benefits of happiness and positivity, joy, gratitude, and elation. All without looking at the darkness from our past, or at the instinct to do things that we are embarrassed or ashamed of. Or to acknowledge the fear and insecurity that comes from life‘s pressure or shying away from a challenge. I hypothesize that many people don’t do personal development work on a regular basis because of this type of thinking… at least the discomfort, uncertainty, or misery that I have now is something that I know. I don’t want it to get worse than what I have now. When I start to uncover stuff I don’t want my life to get worse. Also, it takes a very very long time to break bad habits. The personal development journey is not a quick fix and I don

    26/12/2021 Duration: 03min

  • 19 of 30: It pisses me off the even think about it! EP 150

    25/12/2021 Duration: 08min

Being pissed off seems a little strong but oh do I get annoyed thinking about waking up early every day of the week. I mention this because I feel like if I don’t get up before everyone else, I won’t get any time to myself. I’m realizing more and more and I have to carve out time to be left alone. Part of me feels guilty for it, part of me feels weak the I need it, and part of me feels selfish for it. And I also know I need to ask for what it need. Funny thing is, I don’t always know what I need! If you know someone that would benefit from hearing a podcast like this, be sure to share it with them. • 18 of 30: Ever heard of the term Unanimity? EP 149

    24/12/2021 Duration: 14min

Unanimity is not something that is talked about very often. It basically means that everyone in the group agrees. When we talk about voting or group dynamics, usually majority wins, even if that’s the only one vote. The problem with that in volunteer 12 step fellowships like I attend, sometimes half the group can leave disagreeing with what happened. It can create division and resentment over the long term and get in the way of a valuable support group. I bring up this topic not because anything major happened but because I like it better when a group takes longer to make a decision instead of hearing a topic for the first time and within five minutes voting to change something. I believe that the group can usually make a better decision than me on my own, and I prefer some extra time to let topics breathe. • 17 of 30: am I forcing it? EP 148

    22/12/2021 Duration: 03min

I made a decision a long time ago that if I want to build a relationship with someone, it’s my responsibility to build a relationship. In other words, I don’t need to keep track of how many times they reach out, how many times I return my phone calls, or how often we do stuff together. I model what it is that I value. On one hand that feels very inspired and altruistic however sometimes I wonder if I’m forcing it. One thing I am looking forward to in this next season of my life is, being OK with what it as opposed to what I think it should be. Let me know what you think. • 16 of 30: It’s all or nothing baby! Or is it? EP 147

    21/12/2021 Duration: 08min

I have found myself telling people that I’m in a pretty good place and making some commitments that feel really good right now. What that looks like is, I feel inspired to commit to something in the moment, usually when I am on a high from doing something positive from myself, so I commit. It just so happens that I’ve been committing to a couple different things in a short period of time… podcasting every day, daily breath work, and potentially 6 month of daily yoga. In the moment, all those commitments felt really good but the doubt is setting in. I’m 2 weeks in and I can hear my wife saying, “why do you have to go from 0 to 100 with everything!? It’s always so extreme don’t you think!?“ She is usually right! True or not, I have a story that if I don’t commit to something every day I’m not going to do it. Based on past experience, the number of times I’ve done really well with something was when I had a high level of commitment. And it was through the high commitment that I actually had more time and more se

  • 15 or 30: despite all the intentions, I did it again! EP 146

    20/12/2021 Duration: 06min

Almost every day I wake up and say to myself some form of, I’m for sure getting this done today, I’m for sure going to be finished by this time, or I’m for sure not going to procrastinate today… then… procrastination and delays set in! I hate even talking about procrastination but it’s one of my biggest symptoms that something ain’t right! Also, there’s a great podcast about Helle Weston’s first intensive breath work experience and boy is it trippy. She and the host get a little out there in their conversation, and by little, I mean a lot! However, I enjoy hearing them talk about the breath works the benefits of exploring our thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and emotions through and experiential modality like 100% natural, oxygen. • 14 of 30: You know what’s hard? Consistency EP 145

    20/12/2021 Duration: 08min

Consistency is one of those things that is so obvious how beneficial it is, yet simply put, it’s hard as hell to do. There are so many things in my life that I know, without a shadow of a doubt, would be beneficial to me if I did it regularly yet, everything in me rebels against it. Today, it was five minutes of breathing. Five minutes is nothing. It’s a blip in my day and yet I don’t want to take the five minutes to do the breath work I said I was going to do. Now, I did the breathing routine and I’m glad I did. it’s just so shocking to me that after such a small amount of time of doing something different, my entire being wants to resort back to what’s comfortable. What is it that you keep doing that although it’s comfortable, is it the way you wanna live your life? You know someone that would benefit from an episode like this please share it with them. • 13 of 30: I’m still surprised at how quickly my emotions can turn on a dime EP 144

    19/12/2021 Duration: 07min

Sometimes it shocks me how quickly my emotions can escalate. Particularly with my son. We had a great day, played a lot, and got home late. I did some breath work and meditation and boom almost lost my sh*t. Luckily for everyone, I’ve been on my prayer and meditation game so it didn’t take me long to make an amends. • 12 of 30: I was told I couldn’t participate and man was a pissed EP 143

    17/12/2021 Duration: 08min

A couple of phrases I can’t stand is, “well you didn’t tell me that” or “it’s not my fault because I didn’t know”. Funny thing is, that’s exactly what I wanted to say to the lady when she told me that I couldn’t donate today. Sometimes I donate plasma for spending money, to pay off credit cards, or to help pay for a trip we’re going on. Today, I checked in at the plasma clinic and I remembered I forgot my jacket in the car. So I ran out, grabbed my jacket, and walked back in. In the back of my mind I thought, maybe I should tell them I need to go out to grab my jacket because I think there might be some rule that you can’t leave after you check in. However, I didn’t listen to the mental nudge. When the lady told me I couldn’t donate, which means I would miss out on about $120, I wanted to blame it on her. On this episode, I talk about how many thoughts and deep rooted feelings are involved in many of the things that happen to me on a daily basis. Also, what I do to help them not have as much power over me. Ar

  • 11 of 30: Ever think you need something only to realize, you already had it? EP 142

    17/12/2021 Duration: 10min

More and more I realize how much I rely on external things, situations, and outside influences to make me feel better. I think, if I just had those shoes, or that house, or that job, or that opportunity, or that group of friends, then… everything would be OK. Recently, I’ve realized that the exact thing I desire, not only might be staring me in the face, but I might already have it. 15/12/2021 Duration: 08min

I did an interview with Sarah for one of her groups on relationships. It was interesting how we were able to hear each other better through the interview format versus having a direct conversation. It was almost like counseling. • 9 of 30: How scarcity shows up for me today EP 140

    14/12/2021 Duration: 07min

I find it interesting how many ways fear and insecurity show up in my life. Recently, it’s been in the form of financial insecurity. I feel like I underestimate how often I operate from a place of scarcity. I’m always waiting for the other shoe to drop, I never think there’s going to be enough of anything, not only do I want your services at a discount but I don’t think you should pay for my services either. In other words, I put a low value on the services I offer and when I don’t charge, it keeps me in a financial bind. Yet, when I do the work you tell me to do like, prayer, meditation, breath work, journaling, etc, it brings me closer to the universal power. And in the power, I feel like there’s plenty for everyone , including me. When I operate out of ego and fear, there’s never enough. How does fear show up for you today? Scarcity? Financial insecurity? And anything else that keeps you in a small mindset? If you know someone that should hear this podcast, be sure to share it with them. As always, follow
