  • Experience a Health Life with Corey Hiben - Health in the Real World with Chris Janke

    05/06/2021 Duration: 20min

Thank you to Corey Hiben for joining me on the Health in the Real World Podcast today. Corey used to be a personal trainer, now helps trainers build brands.  We spoke about how important it is to connect with people, how relationships are where it’s really at.  We talked about how to find your passion and skill set. Corey admits it took him a while, but he found what drives him.  Corey originally got into health and fitness after a bad breakup, as he used fitness as a way to get out of a deep depression. Exercise "saved his life" when he realized he could feel better. However, soon he became too dependent on fitness to make him feel happy. It "saved" his life, but it also took over his life in many ways. Now he realizes that it's ok to go out and enjoy a good meal, go on a trip, connect with friends. Motivation from Corey Money monetizes once but skills and relationships monetize forever What actually matters? Skills and relationships. Relationships are what we're here for. We're here to

    31/05/2021 Duration: 21min

Thank you to Rose Campbell for joining me on my podcast. Rose usually trains clients who don't like to exercise, people who don't like the gym. She trains them in small groups. Rose recommends taking small steps, for example, workout one day, monitor change, and come again. That’s what it takes to make long-term behavior change. We should plan, and go for measurable outcomes. Setbacks are a part of life, so don’t feel you’ve failed. Just take small achievable steps and you will get there. Try to change your behavior slowly. Don’t make a big deal about everything. Try to support, without nagging. Both her parents died young, of cancer. Her dad before 30, her mom before 50. Her brother died of cancer/alcoholism. Because of this she's really encouraged her kids to be healthy. A lot of people think working out has to be difficult, uncomfortable, hurting, out of breath. But once they see the outcome, nobody usually feels bad. When you're in your head, anxiety and depression, a little bit of physical exercise, you

  • #37: Achieve Your Fitness Goal

    29/11/2017 Duration: 05min

In this episode I break down two very important concepts to choose your fitness goals without her self. You can always get bogged down in details, but when you go back to the basics you are much more likely to succeed in your fitness quest because you're not making it harder on yourself. These are the two concepts: First, every muscle in your body can either be on or off. Sounds simple, yet it forms the foundation for a lot of strategy when building your workouts. Second, every muscle has at least one opposite muscle. The way these muscles interplay is very important as well. Many times, if one muscle is over-engaged the opposite muscle will be under-engaged. Not always, although this is a good concept to keep in mind. .........
